my s13 that i just bougt has a major idleing problem.
when the car's at a stop or when i put in neutural the idleing goes to low and the engine turns off, so i have to keep on reving the engine when i stop at a light. it tried adjusting the rev thingy but it didn't work so i'm asking you guys. does any one know whats wrong with it? i don't think it's the engine cause when the cars moving, it runs fine and the mileage is still 53k.
also, is this whats causig the check lamp to go on?

Regarding the error code, did you read the code to see what the problem is? I am almost certain that your idle problems will return a code to the ECU.

Things to check for idling issue (after checking ECU and checking the subsequent ECU error).

- TPS
- vacuum hoses
- MAFS
- AIV
- head temperature sensor
- air temp sensor

Does your car give off dark smoke when its idling bad? Does your rpm fluctuate?

It seems like alot of people are having this same problem. Mine comes and goes. No idea why either. It still hesitates sometimes when its warm.

I had this problem in my old car. Check the alternator. Do the lights go dim when you turn it on? Does your stereo display start to flicker? I thought it was the idle too, but when i took it to the mechanic, he said it was the alternator. Hope this helps.

Hrm.. i had this problem with my escort a couple months ago.. The problem is most likely concerns the wrong air-to-fuel mixture. Now the problem with my Escort was a bit simpler. There is a link from the place where your oil is (my english sux, but i would guess that the name for that in english would be oil carter... correct me if that's not right. maybe i'll learn the word <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>)

I would guess it's the one that right near the fan (i didnt have time to take my nissan apart yet). The pic is from an s14 but should give you an idea where to look for it... The problem on my escort was that the tube melted from the fumes and got a hole in the middle. So the cold air was suckedin through the hole directly into the engine causing the engine to shut off when i was idling (particularly at stop lights) due to excessive air. So before you buy anythin, check if there is anything suspicious there... But then again there is a difference between ford and nissan, so this thing might not be even possible to happen on the nissan. Anyways, hope this would help.

the hose you point out is the hose that connects to the IAA valve. &nbsp;the 240 does have a problem with it getting kinda gunky in there. &nbsp;get some TB cleaner and take that hose off an spray liberally in the end of it. &nbsp;you will have to do that several times to get it clean. &nbsp;I emptied half a can in mine. &nbsp;helps that erratic idle quite a bit.
