I doubt it, spoilers really aren't that heavy. You may want to replace them hydraulic pistons, or at least see if either of them are particularly loose.

All this is coming from an s13 fastback driver, so I could be lying. We are a bunch of untrustworthy bastards.

heh.. never happened with my S14... it's so light, and it goes up at a 90 deg angle.. that there's no worries.

Funny story though...

My friend, with his 89 Accord Type R, was out workin' on his stereo one day, and I was supposed to hold the lid. He had a small spoiler (yes, Honda with a clean, nice spoiler) from a Legacy. But, I got bored and went inside... hehe. . . Next, he comes in all pissed off. . hehe..

Anyway that's the whole thing.

there might be, I'm not sure. a friend of mine has a 92 Accord LX and he recently bought a spoiler for an EX. the trunk would just slam down. fortunately we work at a honda dealership and the parts guy said we need EX support springs. after the install it feels much lighter.

I have an 98 SE myself and it never closed on my back, and it wouldn't slam down, just a gentle lowering. see if there are different springs for a 95 SE. if not, get one for the 97-98 SE.

I can tell you that if you put the spoiler on aftermarket, the hatch struts have to be changed to give them enough resistance to hold up the heavier hatch. I have been doing upgrades to my base 240 for a few years and had to get the "better" struts for the hatch in this situation.

Unfortunately, I cannot tell you how to get them cheap, they are definitely NOT cheap at the dealership.
