I'm looking for information on the HKS fan controller that Phase 2 sells, seen here:
http://www.store.yahoo.com/phase2motorsports/hksfanspco.html
I'm curious if anyone around here has experience with this device, both in the installation and/or in the use. My questions are these:
1. If this unit uses the factory water temp sensor, are there any other sensors necessary for installation?
2. Does it simply splice into the appropriate wiring near the ECU, and then to the fans?
3. Can you set BOTH a temp for the fans to come on, and for them to switch off? The description on the site isn't clear on that.

There's a two page thread on FA.

Um, thanks, I guess. I found it but it took half an hour to get the right search parameters.

You could have just looked on the first page.

Dude, I'm not going to get into how un-helpful that statement is. "First page?" You mean Freshalloy's main page, the forum index, or any of the three 240SX-specific forums?
Thanks for your help, I found my answers, once again, not here.

good for you
why spend the dough on this thing anyways when there are plenty of lowcost alternatives that work just as well
secondly if it is anything like most temp controls the on and the off are the same (ie reches a certian temp it turns on goes below that temp it turns off)

I love this board. Where else can I come with an intelligent question, and get insulted for it?
HKS fan controller: $175 runs off stock temp sensor, very accurate.
OR
Derale controller: $50, might last, might not, might work at right temp, might not. "Works just as well" is certainly debatable, even in the FA thread mentioned above, where one person said they'd been through two Derale units before going to something else.
+
Good electric water temp gauge AND probe AND gauge mount: $100 or so.
So, for a little more, I can get it all in one package and be pretty sure of the functionality, plus be able to adjust it from the driver's seat. Or I could spend TWICE as much for the Power Enterprise unit, which you know will become hugely popular now that SCC put it in their Silvia.
As for my concept of a dollar bill, I scrimped/saved/worked odd jobs/and did all the work myself for my swap. I'd like to take good care of it. There are too many jackasses around here who can't resist showing how smart they are.

thread-surrection.
so can you use an aftermarket temp sensor with these things, or do you have to use the factory one? also, does anybody have any info on the water spray functionality of this thing? much appreciated
