Alright, ive been feeling dissapointed with my car for a while, and well, today i figured out what it was. It feels extremely cheap to me. Even our VW felt like such a nicer car. I grew up with Benzs and Beemers. So im thinking of a 92-98 325 coupe or 328 coupe. I want something that feels like im used too, and something to appeal to my love for DTM. My 240z will satisfy me on the Japanese nitch(when its finished.) But now to the point. How much would you all think my car would be worth?
1992 Nissan 240sx SE Coupe
SR20DET Redtop
5 Speed
Greddy Front Mount
HKS SSQV BOV
HKS Iridium Spark Plugs
Heavy Throttle Hotpipe
Topspeed Downpipe
Walbro Fuel Pump 255
Koyo Radiator
HBC Manual Boost Controller
BlitZ Nur-Spec Exhaust
KYB AGX Shocks/Struts
Eibach Prokit Springs
S14 seats
98' Cobra Wheels 17x8 + 30
5 Lug Conversion
300zx 4Pot 30mm Front brakes
Brembo Cross-drilled/Slotted Rotors
Stainless Steel Brake Lines
JGY Friction type Lsd
Honda s2000 Grand Prix White
S13 Silvia front end
JDM Folding Mirrors

My Alpine stereo and My Recaro Speed would obviously come with me. but i would place a deck and factory sized speakers in its place. I would also replace some interior panels and try to find some nice stock carpet. Fix the gauge cluster, and im waiting for paint where it was backed into.

On Evaluation the car would have brand new paint, it has a GREAT swap. Very clean stock swap, with aftermarket goodies. It will probably have new tires by the time i sell it too. So what do ya think?

People go f'n crazy over 240's now and for that I can see it picking up 9 grand or so. Ebay seems to be your best bet as well. You should get an e36 M3, with good cams, full exhaust, and some chip tuning you can run low 13's with em

e36 m3 is to much money....... you havnt been here to long so i suppose you missed all of my first postings...... take a good guess on my age... then scroll.....

thought 2: i really hate driving this car..... but i love it so much, the car is everlasting the car for me....lol that and me and my father had to bleed and sweat so much on this car....... in january of 04 we did the swap in the cold outside in the driveway...... everything on it has been done by me and him together.... everyone knows me for THIS car.... but i CANT keep driving it.... so im in a debate....
what i know:
I dont want to drive this car
i want a bmw
what i dont know:
if i could sell it

if the price is right i could, it would be terribly difficult though
so im thinking if i can work it out taking it off of the road completly and storing it..... buying a bmw doing a few things... and there is my car:) the sx would slowly be rebuilt.... but i just dont know if i can swing the beemer and keep the sx....
decisions decisions

lets here some more opinions on what you think its worth and now what you would do in this situation....

Sell the 240, it is cheap. I drove my moms 94 318 convertable from texas to maryland, and after that I was sold. Thats not even a nice bmw. When I went to get in my 240 it felt like a toy. Everything in the bmw, from the feedback of the wheel to the placement of the climate controll buttons, were like no other. So, sell the 240 to someone who has the fever and buy a 328is. I hope I get flamed for this because all the time I'll know im right, BMW=ultimate driving machine.

You won't get flamed by me because you're right. But you gotta realize that a BMW is expensive fun and a 240 is cheap fun. I love my 240 and wouldn't sell it for a BMW. I'd keep the car and get the BMW later. Why'd you have to do the swap in your driveway, wheres you garage? Was the Porsche and Jaguar in the way? :P Are those 6.5"'s in the front? How'd you get those in?

Now, back on the subject. The car may sell to one of your rich buddies for $7000; its a real clean car from the pictures.

I guess I totally forgot about the affordability factor.

hey pacman..... blow me..... be very mad that i have a father that works extremly hard for his money.... and i drive around a fast rattle trap 92 nissan..... and he drives either his 95 econoline workvan with 300000 miles or his 1986 mercedes 300e with 200000 miles and that we have a 240z in the garage stripped barebones with no money to work on it right now...... be very mad....

now back to the subject at hand.... i love the bmw's and it would the perfect car for me.... my sx rattles, pops, cracks, and beats the living hell out of me everytime i drive it, and i spend about 3 hours in my car a day..... i want something a little more civil but me and especially my dad worked on it alot...... i remember him coming in from outside working on it , hands all cracked and everything and me feeling bad becasue it was something of mine doing it to him.... i have had my first accident, first ticket, first other illegal things, ive lost 140 pounds since ive drove it...... ill never have a car again that got faster everyday i drove it.... weight reduction haha.... the car means alot to me and i dont know if i could get rid of it....
but i cant stand to drive it becasue no matter what i do to it.... it will always feel cheap to me. and i hate that feeling.

brianglawson
02-20-2005, 06:23 PM
ok thought about it..... im leaving my flame up... because thats something i cant stand is people raggin on people with a better than average income... but i was to harsh and apologize.... the 6.5s are just placed in the door panels with and mdf adapter i made for it... they arent inside the doorpanel like most people do it....however they are outside....

Heh, i know what you mean... i've had some doubts about my car. it does feel cheap, but it is cheap... i have driven e30s, 190Es, etc... they feel pretty solid and they are great cars, but it's not me. i know its classy and all, believe me. My dad has a porsche and has owned a couple jags in his day. My mom had a lexus and now she has an expedition, and i've got the stripped out loud coupe in the driveway. To tell you the truth, i love the creaks and rattles because im accustom to it. It's a car, a good one at that.. just live with the rattles and beat the hell out of it. I beat the SHIT out of my car in the hills and whatnot and it's never let me down. BMW/Mercedes people are cool, but to tell you the truth both those cars are very image oriented, i RARELY see those people in the hills really pushing it. I might own one some day for a night on the town car, but i'm defineatly sticking with my coupe. i think you should too! 16 eh? That's cool man... Im just turning 18. Been working on this for a long time; http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v738/Tygma/MathHouse252.jpg

E36 > SR20 S13 (looks + comfort + interior)
SR20 S13 > E36 (power + handling)

From the looks of your car, I think you can get into a newer, low mile E36 with the cash you'll get. I'd wait to sell it until April or May though... Best bang for your buck BMW: 1992 325is w/ DIY turbo kit. On the street or at the track, the JZ80/911 guys will wonder what the hell just happened!

Good Luck,

oh you can believe me when i say I BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF MY CAR I like to think of myself as an extremly capable driver.... i live in the mountains of virgina and all i can say is 80-90 on some extremly dangerous cliffs is not unseen by me or anyone riding with me...... i have something really bad...and that is no fear to push my car. i want to keep my car... i really do... the more i think the more i probably am going to keep it:) in a few months we will be rolling into some major cash from a huge paintbooth sell so maybe i can get something then and keep the sx too as my toy. it is the funest car i have ever drove.... and things ive drove are a 11sec t78 supra and a few nice wrx's along with my friends 4g63 powered hyundai excel....lol i love my car to death... but i cant drive it everyday...i more civilized than that.... plus i fear the more i drive it the more chances there are of something happening to it...haha i think im going to try and find a nice coupe sx and take every last little part i need to fix mine off of it.... then just have a beater stripped shell to fuck off in too or for a track car..... i wonder how quick i could get a stock ka sx? can we say hella massive weight reduction?

Its up to you. I personally won't get an old BMW over a S13 SR20DET. They have their share of problems too - just different ones. If you like luxury > speed then go for it. It costs a lot more to make a BMW fast and the cost of entry is higher.

With how much money you could possibly be fetching out of that 240 you have there I could see it paying for a semi low mileage e36 M3. If not who cares, save for the thing, and ask your parents as well. Nothing wrong with getting a little bit of help if you can, wish I could. But those cars are just such a great balance of everything. Decent room, great handling(who said better than an s13?! they are crazy!), decent power but still enough to be fun to drive and get outta the way of some Z's, gas mileage isnt terrible, then all those creature comforts. you can find e36 M3's for roughly 10-12 grand with 75k on them. They are a bitch to work on and parts are expensive but who cares, do it. Dont be a sissy and get a regular car =P
One thing I wish I could get my car to do, is that Porsche "thump" sound when you close the door. I know other cars do it as well but the exact one a Porsche does is the best, its what I want for my 240

my plan:
by another nice running 240sx
take all good parts off of it and put them on mine:)
then ill see how fast i can make a stock ka sx:)

german cars are reknowned for their wiring
however they are very nice, but they older e36 has a bit of a boxy feel on the interior whereas the s13 has a flowing dash line

Alright so since your pretty much set on another car then... E30 M3. It's oldschool, classy, fast, can HANDLE and is just a great car. Personally it's been one of my favorites for a long time. For reference; http://www.bmwworld.com/pics/3er/e30_m3.jpg

If I was your dad, I'd be super pissed. I'd say. "Son, wtf were you thinking buying this car if you were just gonna wanna sell it cuz it's a POS. I worked all this time on it just for you to get rid of it in less than a year? Have fun working at the hotel again you little punk ass bitch and buy yourself a ford festiva with your OWN money. Here's a little cheese cuz I know your gonna want it with that wine when you start complaining that your festiva feels "cheap." Oh, you said that you "helped" pay for it? So that means you think you have a right to say shit? Well you don't."

BTW, I dislike people like you. "YOUNG" and "STUPID."

good luck with the decision

Tygma, you and me both. My solution might be a Datsun 510 sometime down the line. A bit cheaper than an E30 but still has that light weight feel I love.

Im glad im bushing the price down..... and if some of you would quit being belligerant you would notice that i do appreciate the work and time my father has put into it .... but i also appreciate the time I'VE put into it.. and am not going to sell it..... but when you live in hilbilly land and have a car with a bunch of squeaks and rattles its annoying for an everyday car.... sometimes it goes to far.... I WAS thinking about selling it... but decided its worth to much to me to sell it....

as far as im concerened all the haters can fuck off..... ive payed about half on the price of parts on thiscar..... not bad for a 16 yearold when all my friends around me are being bought brand new 25k cars with no job....
my sx cost 575$ big fuckin deal...... i garuntee alot of you got "nicer" cars when you were 16....

FLYBERT- FUCK YOU IM SURE MY STATEMENTS OF IM USED TO LUXURY CAME ACROSS ALL THE WINEY PUNKS SUCH AS YOURSELF A LITTLE WRONG....
IM 16 TURNING 17....... GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL A YEAR EARLY WITH FULL ADVANCED DIPLOMA AND WITH 12 COLLEGE CREDITS AND HAVING TO START SCHOOL...... FRANKLY I WOULD PREFER TO DRIVE SOMETHING OTHER THAN A GAS HOGGING, LOUD ASS, CAR EVERYDAY BACK AND FORTH TO CLASS...... PLUS I WANT SOEMTHING I DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HAVING COPS ON MY ASS ALL THE TIME WHEN IM JUST OUT COMMUTING.... DID YOU EVER THINK I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO KEEP SOME MILES OFF OF THE CAR TOO? DID YOU EVERTHINK THAT SOME PEOPLE LIKE TO DRIVE SOMETHING THAT IF SOMETHING BREAKS THEY CAN JUST GO GET THE PART FROM THE LOCAL AUTO SUPPLIER.....

IM KEEPING MY FUCKING CAR.... PAY SOME FUCKING ATTENTION TO THE THREAD..... ITS TO SENTIMENTAL FOR ME TO SELL..... HERE SOON WE ARE GOING TO GET A n/A MR2 T-TOP 5SPEED.... AND PARK THE 240 SO I CAN FIX SOME OF THE PROBLEMS WITH IT... LIKE THE CRACK REAR BRAKES... AND THE RATTLING INTERIOR.... ALONG WITH SOME PAINT REPAIR.... IF YOU CALL SOMEONE SPOILED WHO IS DRIVING AROUND A 12K THAT DOES APPRECIATE IT...... THEN WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU CALL THE KIDS DRIVING AROUND 30K CARS?????

ANOTHER THING....... YOUNG MAYBE SO.... STUPID... HARDLY.... I WANT YOU TO DEFEND YOU UNROUNDED ASSUMPTION ON MY I.Q.

BMW = eeehhh...nice...but WAY overrated in my opinion. the thing doesnt tickle my fancy too much...if you ask me, i guess you can just say im a "style over comfort" kinda guy. I would pick my rps13 over any BMW anyday. Unless someone gave it to me or i found one for a good ass price, id re-sell it and get the the profit...then id probably buy another s13 coupe and an 86 and fix them two up...or id probably invest in a house.

Mercedes = hate them

MR2 = dont like them...period.

i dont think i would ever own a BMW even if i had the money. but hey, watever you guys like i guess...Mercedes...self explanitory. and MR2...nice, but i just dont like them. never did.

your car = probably around $7000

Just to let you in on a little something, being stupid doesn't necesarily have anything to do with IQ. One of these days you will learn this. I.Q. is a measure of one small aspect of your intelligence. I've known a lot of smart people in my day. Shit, I went to a HS that had kids with average SAT's of 1400 and a college that had plenty of amazing scholars but guess what, there were plenty of stupid people there too. If you feel your car is cheap because it makes noises or rattles, fix the damn problem. Dynomat it, clean it up, and be happy with what you got. If you were some rich kid that paid for all the work that was done on it, it would be a different story, but for you to give up on a car that you and your dad worked on together in less than a year, that would be pretty damn disheartening to me if I were your dad. I'm glad that you decided on keeping it though. I know I came off harsh but seeing how I like to work on my car with my father as well, it hit close to home that you were giving up on a joint project like that.
