So today my car decides it wont go in reverse. I'm taking it to the transmission place on monday. its a 90' auto. do you guys think i should do a 5-speed swap since i already need a new transmission? Do i need to change anything with the ECU? thanks

Make sure you got enough fluid in it. I have seen problems like yours when a trans doesnt have enough fluid in it. If I were you though I would swap in a five speed anyways if you got the money for it.

Defintly get a swap dude. Check around the junk yards or have the tranny shop do it for you.

If something.  Anything.  If it breaks, upgrade it.  Then tell yourself it was cheaper.  Think about this.
New auto tranny = $1500
Used manual tranny = $300
Misc manual parts = $400
Labor = $300
So there.  You have saved money over a new tranny.
Just dont think about the whole:
Used auto tranny = $300
Labor = $150

Isn't that a great way to do it? I did the same thing with my exhaust.

New OE exhaust: 200 dollars
labor: 30 dollars
Replacements because of rust, multiply above by 3.

New Performance stainless steel exhaust: 517 dollars
Labor: 30 dollars
Savings because of quality construction: 143 dollars
