View Full Version : Turbo upgrade check

K i searched but didnt really find much. But anyways, Im curious to see what's people running for an upgrade on their SR. Shooting for 350-400hp. Turbo, injector setup, boost and how much power you made. So far im leaning towards GT2871 and 550cc injectors since thats the largest i can run with my safc.

550s can only do ~375rwhp...an you'll need a new MAF (Z32) to keep up with the airflow...

But I'd suggest a tuned ECU for that kind of power...and AFC can do nothing for timing control, and it needs to be tweaked for twice the stock output, to be safe and reliable.

Yup.. My car with 555cc inj, z32 maf, step 1 cams, cam gear, fpr, s15 turbo, manifolds, only made 280 to the wheels, with a afc, detonation was aparent on 91 oct. if we had some way to control the timing curve, like a power fc, then it would work out to be 300-315 bhp.

i'm thinking of getting 740cc injectors, z32 MAFS (if i don't convert to a d-jetro system) and either a power fc or fcon vpro and some baseline tuning. I'll be getting the hks gt-rs and more tuning. then some hks 256 intake and 264 exhaust step 1 cams, metal head gasket and final tuning. shooting for 350-400rwhp. of course this is over the course of the next 6 months to a year, depending on how many loans i fund haha

Ray you chose the right turbo...you need 740cc and Z32 MAF and you definitely wanna dyno tune to protect your investment and make it more driveable. Definitely need a head gasket cause you need to push like 20psi at least.

BTW which A/R were you looking at .64 or .86?

Prolly gonna run .64. Just gotta figure out what imma do for fuel and controller. SAFC-II pretty much limits me w 550cc and not even sure if thats gonna be enough. Now i got either power FC or Enthalpy's rom tune for my next option. Go with 550cc or 740cc enthalpy rom tune and have the safc fine tune it. I got a Z maf already and imma swap my other head in after i get it ported and polished with 1.1mm Apex'i headgasket and ARP stud kit. Im shooting for bout 350 rwhp.
