i have a 91 dohc and need a mafs, and i someone i know in a differ state has a 97 mafs will it work?

No.. it wont work. whatever year ECU you're running..that is the best year MAF to get.

MAF has to match the ECU...

SOHC ('89-90) (can also be used for S13 SR, IIRC...)

DOHC ('91-94)

DOHC ('95-98)

No exceptions, no way around it (not even S-AFC).

Why? The voltage curves are quite different for each MAF.
