View Full Version : sleepy eye mode

I was always thinking about making my eyes sleepy, but today I finally did it. It's really quite simple, just take out the fuse under ur steering wheel column. And then, udjust the height using the lil thingie that you can turn next to the headlights. Really simple procedure and it looks really, really nice. If you live in a city then it's perfect, there are ligths everywhere, but if you live out in the woods, and need light, then get something to make up for the lack of lighting. I personally don't need to make up for the lighting cause there are lights all over the damn place in NY, and also, if u think the cops might bitch, and u see one coming, if u click on the highbeams, the ligts will pop-up for some strange reason, but thank god for that, so u can fix it up.
So there you have, i think this free mod is a must have to make the S13 hatches look even hotter.

you can also unplug the connectors by the radiator and adjust the screw. i personally like the boxer eye mode.

sorry, I have no idea what to call it.
So anyway, for the newbies, I dedicate this to you
first go under the steering wheel column, and there is a set of fuses. Take out the one that says somethign about motor, I forgot the name of it, but it should probably make sense.
Next step: just pop open the hood, and next to the headlights, on each side, is a little cap thing, and it has a little arrow, and if you look at where it connects to, it connects to like a rod or something that would push the headlight up or down.
Take off that cap and there is a knob, spin that knob until you are satisfied with the height, and thats it.
Like I was saying before, if you are at an illegal spot, and you are afraid the police might stop you, all you have to do is click the highbeams on, and the headlights will pop up to normal height.
So pimp on, pimps!!

the reason for taking out the fuse is because if you don't, you couldnt adjust the headlights. Dont ask me why, but it's just like that. It will only let you adjust if there is no power(electricity in other words) going to the headlight motor.
So yeah, I guess I'll buy some film and take a pic, my friend has a scanner, so I'll have some pics as soon as possible, it's just hard to find time when working, going to school, and being engaged(god, I need some spare time) so anyway, that's the deal.

I saw a fixed light style on the Veilside website where the lights have a NSX look to them does any one know where I could get some of those

bing
03-24-2002, 05:18 PM
so your lights still work even though they are only half erect...

and when you go high beam style they pop up all the way???

i always thought that u couldnt have the lights on while sleepy, but you can i guess eh???

please go into slgihtly more detail...

can u or can u not have the lights on while sleepy???

bing
03-24-2002, 05:24 PM
do you start this procedure with your lights up and adjust down, or start down and adjust up???

so this is what im thinking ur saying...

start - lights down...

pull out headlight fuse...

pop hood, take off the cap of the rod next to the lights...

spin rod until headlight rises to desirable level...

put fuse back in... get your go on...

and from this, when you pop you pop up you r lights they will only come up to the desired level, and at this level you will be able to have your lights on, however because they are half submerged you dont get the full benefit of your lights for visibilty, so hit the highbeams and they come all the way up...

is my assumption correct or am i missing something...

if im right im gonna do it now, if you cant have the lights on then fuck it..

Ok this SUCKS..

I just tried it both ways., I tried it with having my lights down, then rising it lightly to desired level and I tried having my lights up and lowering it slowley. Both way, they look nice, but the moment I minimize my light, or turn it up, it goes back to how it was and never to the same position that it was before!!

I NEED to have it Sleepy-eye mode, it's so dfamn sexy, but the momeent I trun on the light, or raise or lower (with the button) It goes back to how it was

woah, good thing i came online, I can help you guys out.
OK, here is the thing, you CANNOT PUT THE FUSE BACK IN, if you put it back in, and then turn on the light, it will pop back to original position.
Just follow the steps that i mentioned before, and you will be set.
Yes, you can have your lights on while its on sleepy mode. The lights will be fully functioning. Do not try to put it on high beam cause then the headlights will go back to original position. Leave the lights at the desired height, and leave the fuse out, and do not click high beams on, and u can be pimpin for life.

Also, leave the headlights down, then u pull out fuse, I dont think it matters, but just do it like that.
One more thing, since the fuse is out, the headlights will be in the same sleepy position when u turn ur car off, when u turn it on, when u turn ur lights on, and u turn ur ligths off, all the time, they will always be in sleepy eye mode, ALWAYS!!!!!!

Let me know if I missed something pimps, hopefully I didn't.

damn, it looks soooo damn good sleepy

Dear Pimp..

I have this problem with flashing my beamlights everytime I see a chick walking by. Does that mean I have to get out and re-adjust it to sleepy-mode everytime my hormones rage?

Damnit that sucks, as much as I love the sleepy-eye mode, I'd hate to having to re-adjust it when see a chick If I honk the horne, they'll finger me

sorry pimp, but ummmmm, no more flashing the girlies when you see them passing by.
Just think to yourself, how many times did flashing ur lights at a girl really work?
Not many, you must be more subtle with these chicks, you must peel out, and stop your car right next to the girl, and then get out of your car, and tell them that you have sleepy eye mode and you couldnt flash ur highbeams at them so you had to get out of the car so you can get the digits.

LOLLL

Dear pimp...

I DID IT! Holy SHIT it looks SO nice.. thing is, I have blue parking lights, the moment u take the fuse off of the "light control", the computer assumes the light is off, hence turns the parking light/day light on. Since it's blue, it's illegal to drive with those. What I did was, I took out the fuse for the day light too, I just really love that sleepy-eye mode. I took pictures tonight (with the blue parking lights).. ooh, u're gonna love it!

bing. For me (92 240sx hatchback LE) it's the 4thlast fuse on the right. It's only "5", would that help? If that didnt help, try reading on the fuse cover and remove the one that says "light control".

i tried to adjust my headlights so they could still shine forwards but to no avail, they are hitting the ground a foot infront of the car...

however tehy are still on and visible to other cars so you wont get pulled over..

i had my fogs hooked to the factory lamps, so they never stayed on with the headlights, but they do now, this is awesome, im gonna keep it like this all the time...

we'll do it to all our cars here at uoguelph and take a few pics...

Hi..

Yeah like I said.. My parking lights are DARK blue, which is illegal. Now that it's alwaya on (since the computer doesnt detect the light) I had to take the fuse for that off so I wont get pulled over.

As for how high I put the light, umm.. isnt 2 inches a bit too low? I put it up enough so the light is shiningatleast 6 feet from the car! Hmm.. I'm gonna try to put it down lower, to see how pimpy she gets.

P.S My pics are coming out in a few days, holdd onn

RE: the height at which your sleepy eyes are "awake"... it sounds to me that 2 1/2 inches is a bit high. it looks more like they're stuck open or something. it's not as 'refined' (not that the sleepy eye look is refined at all,) IMHO, as a subtler, lower look. I'd go for 3 finger or even less, height.

bing
03-27-2002, 11:13 PM
yeah but this is easier and so convenient, all you have to do is put the high beams on and off and they're all the way up again...

mine are fairly low, i'll try that 3 finger rule... i dont care about light, before i put new super whie bulbs in i couldnt see anyways...

rancid240

that switch is some hard core shit...why dont you just wire up a switch to the fuse that controls the motors?

i mean as in the fuse that was pulled out in the first place. just a thought.

D-STYLE180SX

I used the switch method and it was very simple,
now I just turn my lights on, then off, and when the lights are going down I hit my new switch and bang, sleepy look!!!
and you dont have to pull in or out any fuses, just hit the switch!!!

dammit, I was soo scared today, I thought some shit happened to me.
OK, I took my car to get washed, and when I put it in, the car was in sleepy mode, I get the damn car back, and the damn lights are regualr height, and I'm like WTF???
So anyway, I drive back to work(i was on my lunch break) and then I was trying to get the headlight back to sleepy, and the damn thing would pop up, like, I would spin the knob, and once the headlight would start going down, it would pop back up like if the fuse was in. I was so damn pissed, I was thinking, these damn mexicans(no offense, thats just the people who washed my car) f'ed up my headlights.
So anyway, I get home and then I'm like, hmmmmm, maybe they pressed the button the pops up the light, and sure enough, they bastards pressed that, so I pressed that buton again, and put my headlight back to sleepy eye, just had to share that, cause it might happen to you one day.
By the way, I must once again say, anything more that 3 fingers is uncivilized, thank you to the guy that came up with that rule, I wouldn't have thought of that.
