How are JHOT Exports engines? I am looking into buying an engine from them, but I want to know the condition of the parts they sell on average.

i got my silvia front end from them, giant pain in my ass. wanted me to pay shipping when it arrived but i obviously can't just wait around when they didn't give me an exact time or even day so i just paid for shipping when i paid for the front end. middle of the day i get a call while at work saying a delivery came for me, but they won't release it till shipping gets paid, wtf? i leave work, argue w/ driver end up writing a check, took 3 weeks for JHOT to have them send me my check back. pics i saw of the front end weren't of the products i got even though they said they were, my corner lights were shit cracked scratched and the amber dint match each other. JHOT never returned calls or emails. they suck balls

I know the guys down there. The do a ton of business, most of the stuff they get is good but like anything you should verify it in person before buying.

All right, thanks guys. I plan on going there myself and taking a look at their engines in person. I want to get a CA18DET. He said it will come with ECU and wiring harness for $1500 ... anything else I would need to buy? Oh yeah, it comes with engine and tranny also. Jarco Inc offers a front clip with driveshaft and fuel pump with $2000 ... should I buy from them instead?

Jarco is the best be to be honest. I really know them well and they're all great guys and get quality stuff. But it's up to you as far how much you're willing to spend.

All right ... but you didn't answer my other question. If I were to buy just the engine, tranny, ecu, and harness ... is that it? Or would I need the driveshaft and fuel pump that Jarco offers with their clips?

Fuel pump is better to buy new, aftermarket, since it could be on the verge of death. You never know.
Driveshaft isn't needed unless you're going auto->5spd or vice versa.

you need:
ignitor
maf
intake (if doesn't come with the stock)
intercooler with all the piping
downpipe
also, does the engine come with the fan and shroud?
fuel pump is something you need to think about.
good idea to replace all belts and the clutch while it's out of the car
there is probably more, other than the stuff you already said but I can't think of it right now
you need more than just and ecu and a harness to make the engine run. do some research

All right, thanks for that link. I will read more into it later. I skimmed it and it seems to be fine.
I will be doing an automatic KA to a 5 speed CA conversion. Guess that means I will need my CA driveshaft ... unless the automatic KA one works as well.
