no one said how effective it is, yet? Does it actually stop the horrid glare.

It's fine. I haven't been flashed by anyone yet. I have the Hella H4 ECE housings though.
And why would you make one when they come with it.... :loco:

Only my H4 kits come with those. I know, because I've torn apart a H1 kit, and didn't find those.

I think he means of the bulbs(H-1,H-4,900*) he sells. Not, every H-4 kit.

Ya. Of the bulbs I sell, only the H4s come with the shields. I'm not pompous...
And RBS.. not everyone can or is willing to do a retrofit. If I get 90% of the niceness of OEM HIDs for 50% of the price.. I win. Hell, if I get 50% of the niceness for 50% of the price, we tie.

I wonder how much those shields would help on a setup like a silvia w/ a 180 front, crystal housings, and HID's. I want to get HID, but at the same time I don't want to blind people/be illegal. I'm also trying to avoid getting HID driving lights (i.e. external) if at all possible. Anyone 'round here should know that s13 lighting sucks a fatty. Anyone here tried it or think these shields would make it bearable(spelling??)?

it's not 50% of the price, and the output is 50% at best.
I paid $320 for all my stuff, and it's OEM and will last forever. Most drop in kits are an even worse deal because they are notorious for breaking and the bulbs shift to all kinds of colors etc. They don't last very long, just not quality products. Nothing personal Jeff, just trying to spread the word and let people know how it really is. I regret all of the $ I've wasted on crappy parts, and I bet others do too.

It's 30% of the cost of a retrofit. It has put out a least 10x the output of a Halogen and has lasted longer than any halogen bulb.
It comes down to price vs. performance. I am perfectly happy with what I have and relise I don't need a perfect set up to be happy with the output.

50% at best? It's going to be at least 90% as bright. How do I know? The 6000K kit I sold is 90lm/w. The Phillips (best on the market, and sells to OEM companies) is 91lm/w. The grand total difference? 35 lumens. 3150 vs. 3185. You CANNOT detect that slight change.
The next step is: Make sure you have the correct housings. Any retrofit in crappy housings will look just like any conversion in crappy housings. However, when HIDs are put in a good housing, they will look nearly the same. And glare? Provided its not super-hella glare, a slight deviance from razor sharp doesn't affect the owner.
So.. there's no need to be elitist. Cheap kits make cheap lights. But if people buy quality kits.. they'll be nearly as bright, last the same ammount of time, and provided it goes in a good housing, look good too.
Anyhow, you got a good deal on the retrofit. But to diminish other people because they don't or won't take the time you took researching, and paying the premium you paid on the oem stuff.. is wrong. Promote retrofits all you'd like. If I had time, money and patience, I may have gone that way. But I know I'm getting 90% of the output for 60% of the price.

the point is that there is a lot more glare, which means that said light is not getting onto the road. And the beam pattern is very poor compared to a retro. Anyways, as long as people are happy with what they got, that's what counts. :)
The server is down for the pic I want to show but it's a guy with a 6k bulb in one projector and a 4300k in the other and the 4300k dominates the 6k. It looks like the 6k is halogen output, but obviously obnoxiously blue. 6k are supposed to be 2800 Lumens (however many are not even that high because of low quality products), as opposed to 4300k which is 3200 Lumens. I'll try and see if I can get that pic from the guy so I can post it.
