Well, here are some pics of the car now. I know I picked some shitty lighting as a photographer, but what the hell. It’s been out of commission for well over a year, I got it running nicely on the road last week, but now I am taking it out of commission again. It is a hell of a long story and I often a depressing one. I am going to build it up now for 800-1000+ hp. It’s a lot of money, so I estimate it will be 4-5 months. I got a bunch of things for it that I have not installed but I will hold up on taking them out my closet since I will be taking the motor out next weekend and tearing it up. I will explain the whole story in 4-5months, but very long story short, Need big single and not twin turbo, Damn you stuck injector. Exhaust cam, it was the injectors fault. Oil, I know you don’t like to be mixed with gasoline. The 3 sets of Iridiums, sorry for your 10mile life span, thank you maf’s, suspicious 2nd turbo, and injectors and knock sensors and 4mpg. Water pump, you just took a crap by your self after 10miles. ETC….X 2 . I did replace the water pump with a Nismo pump, and boght a pfc, 850’s, 280-290 cams. but I decided not to just go big single and replace the cam. But to go all out while its out. I have the worst of luck, one day it will be on my side. The car was fast as hell and still is for the 100miles I drove it, but I figure I am going to go all out again. It makes me wonder how much fun it would have been to stick with the ka/ca/sr/rb20 cars that I had. Shit for that crap is cheap! You have now Idea how lucky you guys are. Its coasting me 2400$ just to able for the head to run those cams, then add 900$ per cam for the step 3’s. Not to mention another 6k for other engine crap. The thing is, when I get back on the road, it will be more of a dyno queen, rather then something I could drive and have fun. We will see, It might be a lot of fun, but then again every month its turning into something I cant daily drive. Time will tell….

i think you could personally use a bigger intercooler...

hahahah that things now like, your fucking bumper support.

TheSnail
02-13-2005, 12:24 AM
What bumper support? hehe, I had to weld a 1/4 inch plate on top of the intcooler at the same angle of the stock bumper, to have the bumper skin screwed too it. if that makes any sence. the left self-tapping screw striped the plate, hence the left side in the front pic seperated. I will use rivets or nuts and bolts next time. I hope I dont rear end any one, my car would crumble.

I have a bumper support, and crashed my s14 twice (well two different cars) both times impact was above the support so in my experience you don’t need it, you'll just end up missing it all together anyway. Oh the crashes, one I hydroplaned into a guardrail, the other I didn’t stop for the car I hit.

Snail; do you have a manifold yet? i might have an intake manifold to. i need a car to do some test fitting. since i can't afford the swap myself! :bash: email me if you are interested and maybe we can work out a deal.
http://wasabigarage.com/img/pics/turbo_manifold/rb/RB26/1-23-2005_006.jpg

i will need to make a jig off it. the jig is only for the wastegate placment.
i got the d sport car for the rb25 but didn't get to make a jig for the wastegate.

Snail that looks like a really fun project. But $900 per cam? FAWK! I thought us SR/KA guys were getting ripped off with 250-500 dollar cams. I hope you break the dyno!

TheSnail
02-14-2005, 09:55 AM
Thanks, Yeah when I saw the 900$ I thought it was for the set, but looking at it one more time I was horified. Now I need the hks step 3 kit to run them that includes valve springs, valve lifters, and retainers which is 1600, then machine work for the head for the lobes to clear the head, then I might as well P&P. I wish it was 500 $sr cams then 300$ valve springs and 100$ RAS, that would of been nice.

Well, you're talking Skyline parts... stuff's not cheap anymore for those. Same with Supra, NSX etc parts.

97DubTruck
02-14-2005, 10:56 AM
Yeah I heard your car was going last weekend but never got to see it. That sucks. Good luck with the head work and everything. What machine shop around Marietta are you going to trust with that kind of project?

And when was anything ever cheap for an rb26??? I must have missed that period. GT-R parts dont come down in price, they start from the factory really expensive and then it gets worse after production. I bet that water pump killed you.

TheSnail

Im going to Powder Springs, One of Turbo Daves guys. I let you know their name and number when I get the info myself. I think most of the pricing is fair, its about 50%-100% more then a sr, but then you have things that are retardedly expensive, like the step3 cams where the step 1 and 2 cams are 720$ a pair, And knowing it does not cost them the extra 1080$ to make a bigger duration and lift. I think they just bump the price for the pro series parts, because they are bought by race teams and very rich people, but I am neither so its sometimes a pain. When the waterpump crapped out, I got a very good deal from Phase2motorsports for 280$ shipped, as the two other places are selling it for 420+shipping. You did not happen to be on 75 from barrett about 2 weeks ago with a burgandy s13 hatch tring to race? 11pm? If that was you, then that was the first night I brought out the car, I was far behind you guys playing around in 3gear untill a IC pipe poped off :) Talk to you later.

Haha no that wasn't me. I would have been in the 97 in my signature. Vlade is your brother isn't he? I usually see him down at barrett with the rb20 coupe. He told me about the coupe was running and then a few days later i read this post. THAT SUCKS.

I've been to turbo daves shop a couple times. I think Eric is the guy with KA-T in a 95. I think he does most of the work down there. Are you taking the motor or the whole car there?

Sorry, I only got to see the back the two cars and it was a black s14 and my friend in the hatch said it had an intercooler, so I thought it might have been yours. Eric does not work there anymore, but my car is going to be a TD shop for a good minute. Yes Vladi is my bro, he loves Starbucks so you can always catch him there. I have a spare stock cams, and new injectors so I could fix the ticking from the ruffed up cam lob from not having oil on the buckets, but instead gasoline, from the stuck injector, but I hate the twins with a passion now, So its basically, one of those "If im changing this, I might aswell change this, while Im at it" which is a statement alot of us know too well;)

Oh well it may have been me then. :aw: Oh well. Why don't you ever come out with him? I rarely go to Barrett to see all the tools down there but when i go I always see your brother and he's forever talking about the rb26 is almost done and my bro is gonna bring it out day.

I'm getting some tuning done on Thursday then heading to Orlando on Friday at like 11. If you want to bring it to Galyans or whatever its called now at like 9 on Friday then we could meet up. You might want to park it further away from the heads that usually hang out there or you'll get mobbed with dumb ass questions.

"Do you drift it?"

"Does it run like 6's or something?"

HAHA great, last weekend I told a kid I ran 1,000,000 pounds of boost and he was like, "what size turbo?"
