View Full Version : New Turbo setup finally

With a little modification we were able to fabricate some stuff for my new turbo setup. I wanted to keep it bottom mount so it won't be too conspicuous. Its a little bigger than the stock T25 I was using, but we made it clear the motor mount. Now i just need to modify the power steering line slightly to finish the job. Motor is going to be dropped in tommorow night.

Don't mind the retard in the picture.

Here are a few of Luke's 5th motor. The future hole in my block with the purple turbo is going to be much bigger I hope.

With a 200 shot of nitrous the boost should hit around 4000 RPM on a 2.0 Liter engine, thats what the guy at the semi-truck turbo store said. I am still trying to find a way to hide 3 10 pound bottles in my car, since this is my daily driver, and cops hassle me a lot.

you cant be serious about putting that huge purple thing on. if you are...i would love to know how that thing pulls.

couldn't get one of those yellow ones to fit?

couldn't get one of those yellow ones to fit?

I really wanted the yellow one, but it came to my realization, that if i couldnt lift it up off the ground, it would be difficult to fabricate a manifold for it, and then have it not break. Maybe when I have less of a time restaint i'll try the yellow one, and build bracing to the chassis of the car to hold it in place.

Yes with a lot of fabrication and modification to the driver side strut tower the turbo setup fits great. This is really going better than we expected.

Now all we have to do is make the ic piping and down pipe. It should be pretty easy in comparison to the turbo setup..

And andrew. We will be running big yellow after we dyno barney.

I think you guys forgot to take out a cigarette butt inside the compressor wheel.........you might want to pull that out, otherwise when you start the motor the ash from the butt will create friction, causing the wheel to break apart and shatter the turbo housing. This will then cause the manifold the explode from the vibrations which will cause metal fragments to shoot out everywhere. The fragments of sharp, heated metal will shoot through the firewall into Bobbys legs causing him to have no legs like Robert, and hit Luke in the face and pop the pimple on the corner of his mouth because he refuses to have clean corners.....

Make sure to take it out..... :cj:

Um, Where's your wastegate?

Well with our sophisticated computer test, we have concluded a wastegate is not required. This is because the total produced cfm created by the motor is only able to produce 16 psi at max. This will still be an allowable amount of boost.

Actually the whole turbo setup cost us under $200.

wow. interesting. Why are you going to put such a large turbo on a car that is used for daily driving?

I dont understand about why this is bs. We have spent the alot of time fabricating, and test fitting. It should work, and it will spool up great with the custom cams, and itb's that we will be using.

That turbo is really small in comparison to our giant grape.

I concur, and "rupertaker1" that turbo in the picture is minute. That thing is nothing compared to the substantially larger "giant grape"! :aw:

Well Lets hope that you have some good support To hold the weight of that turbo. After that thing heats up all that metal is expanding and then...........the cooling phase hahahah that turbo is to heavy for the manifold to contract back to its original position hahahah well good luck.

blu808
02-07-2005, 05:09 PM
We have a support bracket from the turbo center section bolts, to the head, and then to the motor mount.

The turbo rests on a cutout in the shock tower, there is additional bracing on the chassis of the car to accomodate the thermal expansion.
