what newts at the beach? Every newt I've ever seen is fresh water. I wonder what they do eat in the wild. I'm pretty sure there vegetarian, but don't quote me on that.

Newts rock! Had them as a kid. Had up 6 at one time. One of them had an extra foot growing off of his knee. We called him Jonny 5. Wow, that was a long time ago.

The most aquatic of Pacific newts, the rough-skinned newt is identified by its warty skin and its small eyes, with dark lower lids. It searches for its invertebrate prey both on land and in the water, and its toxic skin secretions repel most of its enemies. In the breeding season, the male's skin temporarily becomes smooth and his vent swells. Unlike other western newts, the female rough-skinned lays her eggs one at a time, rather than in masses, on submerged plants or debris. The eggs hatch into aquatic larvae.

according to this map, i'm just barely south of its range. i think the map is slightly wrong.

i dunno all i know they look exactly like the one driftaholic has. although the ones that i were going after were smooth skinned. between the condos and the beach there were lots and lots of tropical plant growth that just covered the ground.

or was it a gecko?

yea im not so sure about that map, it shows its range is in alaska, haha.

And it would actually be Geico that saves you the money and Gecko that's the spokeslizard. I have a Lepard Gecko that I named Geico.

For that if he spends a lot of time in the water you need a half water/half land terrium setup. And he's gonna want to eat shrimp probably. Maybe some snails, muscles, etc. Whatever invertabrates you have there.

he's still doin good, i guess. i got him a 10 gallon aquarium this week. put a brick and some rocks in it and filled it with water almost to the top of the brick. then put some grass in it, and a "cave" from the pet store. he chills in the cave a lot. sometimes swims around, sometimes climbs on the grass.

It should eat things like blood worms, glass worms, brine shrimp, etc... Im sure the local pet shop sells them. Hope you take good care of it!
