View Full Version : Cheapest way for S13 Conversion

I know I know, I searched, up and down. I just wanted to know where to get the conversion the cheapest. Would it be cheaper to buy a whole thing or to buy them separately? I kinda wanted a cf hood and an aftermarket bumper and fenders. Where to get them is what I ask. Thanks

PS. What's really better besides how much light or color I have? Projectors or non? I mean I'm not going for show, but just to have a conversion. Doesn't really matter.

uhh as for the lights if you don't care about light output or looks then just get whichever you find cheapest.

as for your sig: what's a silver spec??

Sentra Spec V im guessing.
You got that right. Anyway, I'm looking at ebay right now and I got a plan to get the whole lights conversion around 400 bux, is that cheap? Oh and that's not including the fenders, hood or bumper. It's just the headlamps, corners, r32 grill and the brackets.

Yea... Im guessing hes a newb and thinks s13 is silvia or something of the sort.

Call up r crew in sf and see if they still have that blue silvia front end lying around. Last time I was there (even though it was months ago) they were trying to dump it on me for around $500. I dunno if you can get that kind of price cause I have shoped there before but its worth a shot.

I'm not a noob in the world of 240's, it's my first car, and now I got a spec, the car has been sitting for a while since I've been researching with what to do with it. The timing chain guides/tensioners are due for replacement, headlamp motors are going, the bumper has a huge paint missing, crack of course, that's why I'm looking into it. It's just that I haven't been here so much that I dont know where to look for them cheap. I may finally end up with a deal with a whole conversion for around 600, I might get it lower since the hood they have is dented. I plan to get CF hood on it anyway.

Also just to let you also know that my 240 is not an s13, and never will. It could be the same chassis, but no, it won't have an SR20 like a lot here already, it will have a KA turbo on it. Or it could have a custom 13.5:1 comp ratio that will run on race gas when I run it on a track. I don't want to sound cocky, it's just that I hate it when people call me noob when I'm really not. I have yet to finish Corky Bell's turbo book so the project will be on hold right on the body until I get enough money to actually do the motor. And yea I'll be going to Wyotech in Fremont to further my studies so yea....me = not so much of a noob ;)

I have the ;) on it so please dont be offended. We were all once a noob too. Thanks for the tip.

13:5:1 comp ratio in a turbo ka and were not supposed to think your an idiot? You just picked up a book on turbos and your going to be going to a domestic/hotrod school someday and that makes you know your stuff? I dont care what you read it doesnt mean anything till you put your hands on something. To further prove how much of an idiot you are you bought a sentra and wasted money on it....

13:5:1 comp ratio in a turbo ka and were not supposed to think your an idiot?

Just for fun here, apparently you should read closer. He said KA-T "OR" 13.5:1 engine. Not the combination of the 2.

Oh and most people know when S13 Conversion is said, it is assumed that you are talking about the Silvia front. Otherwise it is listed as 180sx conversion.

And as for looking for Silvia fronts, if you want aftermarket everything just buy the pieces from different places. Search around, there is no one place that will probably give you the best deal on all of it.

i think you should buy a frist class ticket to japan then get off the plane go to a used car dealer buy a S13 with a CF hood (just like you want) find someone to ship it back to the states for like a million dollars then get back on the plane come home and pick up your car in LBC harbor (im guessing) and bring me some of those nuts you get off the plane

Ok, just to let you know that all 89-94 240sx/Silvia's are called S13's. Thats just the chassis code. It doesn't mean it is US or JDM.

Anyway, if you are serious about buying a s13 silvia front for your car then I would suggest buying a complete conversion from someone. I got a guy near me that sells them for $900. Thats usually how much they go for. unlike what vvtisupra said:
peice it together using for sale peices

headlights 150
brackets 40
fenders 200
hood 300
bumper support 50
bumper 200

If you add that up, it comes to $940. And you're gonna be lucky if you can find a bumper support for 40 and headlights for 150. If you do they are in horrible condition. I made the mistake of piecing mine together like vvtisupra suggested, and I spent close to $1300. But I have an aftermarket bumper and I got non-projector headlights. Good luck trying to find a bumper support by itself, cause it took me 4 months to find one because they are never on ebay and most people that import them don't want to sell them by themselves. Just make sure you don't use shitty parts if you go aftermarket.

do a search for nissan chassis codes my man. All 89-94 240sx IS s13. s13 isnt some magic jdm tyte term that means only japan market silvias and 180sx with sr. ALL of them are s13, even if its a 240sx with a ka in america. its the general chassis code, they get more specific if you want engine and body style and all that. go read.

ThatGuy
02-01-2005, 08:13 PM
CivicEater, pay attention. S13 is the chassis code. A USDM 240sx is a S13, a 180sx in Japan is a S13, a 89-94 Silvia is a S13. Saying a car is a S13 does not make it RHD or SR equipped, it simply means it's built on the S13 chassis. Thus the reason for calling it a CHASSIS CODE.

Now let that marinate in your brain-housing for a minute or two.

And then those guys started to flame me because I made a mistake like they never made one. It's just BS. I didn't mean this to become a stupid thread, but they had to start flaming me for whatever reason they can think of. I'm not asking to be criticized, I was simply asking where to buy them cheap. the reason everybody is getting on you is because you keep insisting its not a "real s13" because its not RHD and sr'd. well bud sorry to burst your bubble but s13's came in both lhd and rhd and w/ ka motor, sr motor, and ca motor. so get over that your car is an s13.
'88-'90 S13 Silvia CA18DET

'91-'93 PS13 Silvia SR20DET (P for SR)
'91-'98 RPS13 180SX SR20DET (no distinction between the two different minor model change, last minor change was the inclusion of the double round lights and a more squarish front bumper.)

those are the codes and in there it to be said that they are all s13's. mine would be a 91 krms13 if you want to get technical. a REAL s13, the one that is strictly an s13 doesn't even have an sr, it has a ca so buddy stfu and learn before you start to talk. cause you know what, so fart you haven't done anything but make an ass out of yourself.

if you get a FG bumper you dont need the bumper support

You still need it. What happens if you run into something? If you don't have a bumper support it is going to break you bumper (not like it takes much to do that anyway) and then your radiator support and radiator is going next, and it that doesnt take all the impact then your engine will take the rest of the force. If you have a bumper support, it is attached to your frame and your frame will take the force and not your vital parts.

Thats the whole reason why it is there. That, and to help hold up your bumper.

If you have an intercooler it will take the brunt of the impact because you have to cut out the bumper support to make it fit then it loses all of it's structural integrety anyways and as for holding up the bumper mine has been on for over a year now with 4 bolts and two zipties with no problems so you are wrong

yeah probably the same guy
and as for bumper supports the i/c doesn't have energy management built into it like the bumper support does, the bumper support moves all the energy from the impact into the frame rails and causes the crumple zones to do their job and for the frame to absorb a lot of the energy making you a lot safer in an accident.
hey its not nescessary but it does help. I don't have mine though so....
