Yes, I realize this is a stupid question, but I've never owned an S14, and I'm planning on checking one out tomorrow, possibly to buy.

In the pictures the seller sent, the headlights are pushed in a bit.. they don't sit straight. I need to know what might be bent so I know what to look out for.. and if it'll be more than the car's worth to get it to pass my state safety inspection (which needs the headlights and bumper to be aligned correctly).

I'm guessing it's the core support... does that mean the core support is severely tweaked?

if the headlights dont sit right you're looking at some metal damage

at LEAST replacing the uprights on the core support, maybe you can get away w/ bending them

Yes, the headlights mount to the headlight brackets (part of the core support) and fenders.

Oh well, looks like I'm not buying that car.

Fuck Maryland. :bash:

The headlight brackets are easy to replace....even the upper tie bar if you have to replace that.

Really? they unbolt from the main core support like S13 Silvia headlight brackets?

I know I'd have to replace the bumper upper bracket and the bumper foam on this car, and maybe the main bumper support. I'm just not looking forward to tearing open the WHOLE front end on a limited time scale.

Edit: this is the picture the seller sent me (huge photo):

Headlight brackets are spotwelded, they pop right out with a drill or you can pull them if they're not bad. That car is an easy fix.

Id say to do a carfax report but that wont help if he never reported the accident Did he tell you what he hit? Cause it looks like he hit something pretty hard or vice versa, and tried to half ass it himself.
My cars never hit a thing. If you go to this link and look for post #90 you'll have links to my car.

The problem is just getting it all done.

I can't get a car registered unless all this stuff is perfect in my state. Temp tags only last 15 days, which would only give me two weekends to fix it.

It's an easy fix to be sure, but gathering the parts and getting it all put together in 15 days is the problem. Once those 15 days are up I can't drive it again until it's inspected.

I'll probably still pass. But if the brackets aren't bent too badly I'll consider it.

Well any GOOD dealership can get you those parts in three business days and any GOOD body shop can spot weld the headlight brackets in one business day. Right now you should be able to get a body shop to spot weld for you cheap....considering business is slow for them at this time of the year (winter, snow, blah blah) and they are willing to work out any deal to make some money.

dude what are you talking about, MD inspection is easy. I got a shop that would probably pass that no problem.

Don't even weld the new ones. Bolt those sumbishes. I replaced both of mine in 4 minutes. (Kouki-> Zenki, the bolt holes are off a bit for the lights)
