Spent several days in Japanese hospital. The most depressing miserable Christmas of my life. (actually it did improve...we went to Fukuoka for a few days)

All my kids were here for the holidays. We had planned a great trip to Tokyo for the week after Christmas through New Years. Chrismas eve a Black Cat delivery truck does a U-turn in front of me and turns the S13 into scrap.

Japanese hospitals have good Drs. and nurses, but the facilities and the way they do things just aint fun at all.

Crushed sternum/ribs, collapsed lung, internal bleeding, smashed face...

Mending now...still real sore. I'll post pics later.

man that sux, happy to see you still in one bag of skin. I'm getting tired of everyone saying these japanese truck drivers never wreck. I think I've seen more trucks in accidents over here than anything else. Just to give you guys an idea of what these drivers are like, I once followed a truck (dump truck) all the way to a touge spot through a bunch of touge doing mostly 80kmh. 80 to 90 clicks is on the very top end of comfortable cruising for me going to touge. Hawlin bawls, cutting close and howlin tires. These guys will blow through red lights at night w/out thinkin twice. Happened right in front of me last night as a matter of fact.

Holy shit. I'm glad to hear you're all in one piece, Jeff.
I hope you get better soon. At the very least you had your whole family to take care of you. Were you alone when the collision occurred?
I know it's probably the least of your concerns, but if nothing else, you will be able to get a respectable settlement from their insurance, and should have plenty of funds to buy and build another Silvia.
Do you have our phone numbers? I can't find yours.
Could you send me a PM with yours?

He's not in the military, he's a school administrator. I'm sure he'll be given sufficient time off to heal.

Always kicking a man when he's down!!
were you wearing your seatbelt or did your face pretty much take the damage from the lack of air bag.
Even with the seatbelt the steering wheel can do a lot of damage when it is moved toward you by about 8 inches. It was turned inside out against my chest and face.

I am stationed here....I am a DOD civilian though.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I AM mending. No permanent scars...just permanent ugly. The facial bruising and cuts healed really fast. The chest has been slow. You never know how much you use the muscles in your chest until you wreck your rib cage. Getting out of bed in the morning has been a nightmare. For the first week I had my wife bring my meds (hydrocodone rocks) and a half hour later I would try to get up. And even then I needed help.

Shopping for something new to drive....S15 sounds nice to me.

Sorry about the wreck, GladHatter

Japanese good

What's wrong with Tri-Care? They've been nothing but good to me, especially (sp :loco: ) when my wife's car fell on my head. Well, the German doctor sucked, but Tri-Care was good with everything. Had over a month of convelescent leave too. :wiggle:

Holly Chit. Look at the steering wheel. Looks like they had to rip the door open.

Took them 45 minutes to get me out of it. Jaws of life own.
