Hey sr24det, go to http://www.hmotorsonline.com/ . good place to buy engines for very decent prices. I used to be a honda owner =)

I do Honda swaps here at my shop and I can get engines for that car cheaper than Hmotors. I bought my first B series motor from them.
As for forums, Hondatech is far worse than here for getting flamed asking newbie questions. ClubSI is ok for anyone with an SI. Basically you can find alot of info from hasport.com & hondatech "tech library", Also try hybridgarage.com.
What exactly are you looking for to put into the 95 civy? A B series motor will drop right in with very minor wiring & integra axles/intermediate shaft & shift linkage. I can also get the stock D series too. Let me know if you have any questions & good luck!

honda tech all the way dont go to clubsi

It depends what you want to do to the motor. If you just want to get another stock motor that came in the car you can get it from a lot of junkyards/auto recyclers or pick one up from someone swapping in a JDM motor and selling the stock one for cheap and drop right in. If you're swapping for another motor then you need the harness, ECU and other stuff.

honda-tech is definitely the place to go. I'm on ClubSi.. but then I used to have a Si.

ZK, Sorry but you use the D series harness on any b series swap, You only have to run the Vtec/Vtec oil/knock sensor wires. But you'll find that out by reasearching...... Junkyards are the worst place to buy a motor unless you go to test it yourself/ recyclers sometimes do a comp/leakdown check but rarely that I know of, Your third option however is a good one. I'm not talking sh#t, but trying to clarify some misinformation.

Your welcome man. Ive never owned a Honda but those are the two only sites i can think of

I've never owned a Honda myself, buy my roommate had a '92 hatch with a USDM GSR engine (b18C1) with a JDM ECU for performance purposes. The thing idled like a bitch and could not pass smog to save its life.

From what I understand, if you go all USDM (engine, ecu, etc?) itl'l be alot more livable...is this correct?

There are alot of variables involved in that. I have friends that also run JDM ecus on their Gsrs' with no problems. I ran an P72 (Gsr) ecu on my old B16 for a while and it ran a little rich but thats it. Basically the JDM ecu has more aggressive timing curve & fuel mapping. I would venture to say that your friend had either a modded ecu or maybe even a map sensor problem but it was probably not because of being JDM/USDM capatible.

interesting, I didn't bug him about it too much about it. Seems for a street car thought USDM stuff would be easier to find and less shipping; and the thread starter probably isn't going all out for his girlfriend's car to necessitate the more aggresive JDM ECU

Actually the JDM stuff is easier to get. USDM costs more and gets picked up fast because they can actually be legalized when swapped.

Exactly. Especially the US OBD2 stuff. JDM B16As are DIRT cheap compared to the US versions, last I checked (I used to own a '99 CX).

If this Civic is to be a daily driver, I'd just get a newer stock longblock for it. What model is it?

You'll save a ton of money just doing a stock long block. I can get a D series Lb somewhere around $800 vs anything DOHC JDM for $1400 & up......If it were for my girl, I'd just drop in a D16 with some minor bolt ons.

Hey sr240det why dont you put a H22 in it since you are going to replace the engine, junkyards should have them, it should cost 200-400 more but you get double the horsepower and who knows you might have a 14 sec. civic or better.....

DocTaDrifT
02-02-2005, 10:08 PM
if your going to put a H22 you might as well get a K series eng that seems to be popular with my honda friends
