View Full Version : Suspension Recommendations

So, my suspension is about shot. Its just the stock ones on my S14.

Looking for a good quality, better than stock but not extreme or much lower than stock, not too expensive replacement for the struts and springs.

I don't want too rough a ride. This is mostly a daily driver with the occasional auto-x race. And not too much lower, already have enough trouble w/ the potholes in Bmore.

Any good recommendations?

Also, any real difference in difficulty to install? I had no problem removing the struts from my last 240, so I don't think installation should be an issue. But a heads up would be nice if one type is more difficult to do.

Thanks alot.

I have tokico's and ST sways with front and rear strut tower braces and it's really a nice setup. but I do wish my car was lower some times.

tein basic coilovers dont break the bank IMO... or just go with toki struts and tien springs.

Cars are supposed to roll, stiffer sprigs would help you though.

stop beating around the bush and just get some spl coilovers. I ride with tein he's with a fixed racing seat so im sure you can jsut handle simple coilovers.

I figure it like this. Daily driving is commuting to go to work / school you're gonna have a shitty time anyways.... might as well have fun at the track with a full coilover set up... having fun where y ou wanna have fun. A wise man once said. quit holding back

So, I was looking at the D2 and they look great, but fairly expensive $1100+

Do they have multiple models? Or do you know of a good place to order them cheaper?

Do you know anything about these personally? They certainly seem good for the price.

Is the quality OK? I've seen a couple not so great comments here about them.

AGX with any springs, run you like 500-600, very good set up, sporty and comfy

GUYS you punks! he said he doesn't want a harsh ride. that is his PREFRENCE! stop telling him what he wants. coilovers are NOT comfortable, especially those on the lower end of the quality/price range. He also doesn't want too low a drop.

not everyone needs or even wants coilovers.

If you don't take your car to the track or seriously drive your car (i'm not counting going really fast on freeways or onramps), coilovers are a WASTE OF MONEY anyway.

Are coilovers usually easily adjustable?

By easily, I mean worthwhile to change between softening them up for a 6 hr drive and cranking them down for having some fun.

Also, can coilover be adjusted so that they respond similarly to a good set of standard struts and springs at a normal ride height.

I would really like to have performance when I want it, but its much more important for me to have something usable every day.

As an example, I used to have an ACT clutch in my last 240, and although I really loved it most of the time, it was just too much for driving in the city and getting stuck in traffic.

coilovers + soft sidewall tires = comfy. Coilovers to change dampening if it is not an inverted strut type all you have to do is turn the valve on the top of the strut . TAkes about 40 seconds to adjust all 4

I don't think he was serious.

To the original poster....I guess you can go with a shock/spring combo (i.e. agx/prokits).

I personally daily drive (drive almost everyday) with KTS coilovers and I don't find them annoying at all....unless I go to D.C. which is riddled with potholes and crappy roads. :bite: Lucky I've only dealt with that twice.

OK, well I decided to go w/ the Megan Racing Coilovers.
Especially for the price they are now, I couldn't pass that up.

Thanks for your input
