I used to play all the time. Now I am playing Warcraft 3.

I probably still remember my build orders/strats for Starcraft. Protoss and Human player. (never got the hang of zerg) :) I don't know if I can still find the CDs though.

big game hunters ruined it. Map hackers and n00bs suck.

Used to have some success with 8pool 6 zling early smackdown followed by jump to mutas for some peon abuse and hit and run. Micromanagement is fun when the other guy has no idea whats goin on =P

But yeah, no surprise my GPA jumped a point after i quit playing, haha

BGH was awesome. Key to winning any map is mass numbers and expanding fast. Marine and firebat stimpack rushes were awesome. :)

Funny how those dont work as well in War3, its all about the heros in that game.

Starcraft Brood War kicked ass!!! I used to play all the time. Back in highschool that is all I did, came home from school and would play about 4 hours a night then practically all day on the weekends. Damn I was addicted. My friends and I would play 3v3's and we all had accounts around 1300 wins and 150 loses and 50 disc (not to mention our 2nd and 3rd accounts with 300+ wins). TERRAN owned all!! They required the most micro to use, but overall had the best firepower. You couldn't just mass up on one unit like goons or hydras. You had to have a mix of tanks, rines, meds, vessels, goliaths.
Warcraft 3: the FT is ok, but the ladder system is royally hooped, I can't stand playing that game anymore so now I play WoW.

Then all the people on bnet (with like, 5 exceptions) cannot play SC. Cus NOBODY plays LT...

Perhaps BGH requires LESS skill than other maps.. but to say it requires NO skill is far from the truth.

You can't just sit around in BGH and build carriers and shit, you will get knocked the fuck out :P

BGH isn't starcraft. It's Build and Turtle.

The beauty of Starcraft was in balancing the elements of tech, resource management, and exploration. BGH reduced it to w hoever had more shit.

One defensible choke point with two base locations is a joke.


A real map should force you to work to defend an expansion, to weigh the risk of expanding versus teching versus attacking. Without the demands the flow of the game is gone.

Yes, I"m a fuckin starcraft elitist. And no, most f the BNET players can't play for shit.

Watch some of the championship matches with Zileas and Agent911; those were the masters. There was no wasted moment, there was no shortage of tension. From beinga second late building a new peon to the decision to scout one base location over the other in the early game, the game hung in the balance.

Blocking the choke andsaving up enough money to build to Guardian/Devourer/Muta or 12 scouts and 12 Carriers or 12 Battlecruisers is not Starcraft. It's Simcraft.

A good player should keep tabs on his opponent at regular intervals, he should prod and test defenses, he should tech smoothly from one level to another.

Think of a good driver, shifting from one gear to another without hesitation. Thats a good starcraft builder managing his peons bringin in money and spending that money on resources and upgrades.

its not difference in style, most games end before fleets..unless you play unlimited resources.
ladder maps are the maps to play if u want to learn...
play about 2000+ games then your considered newbie stage.
