I have a 110k mile 1995 KA. The engine is completely stock, and runs pretty well.

However, it was strange last night. If I rev the car in neutral, it will stutter for half a second and then rev normally. The response from the pedal and the car actually revving is off by that half a second.

Also, if I floor the car, it doesn't seem to pull quite as hard as before. I also feel like it reaches the power it made before last night at about 4500. It's like a jolt of power.

I haven't changed anything, but the car was at my body man for the past 20 days. Perhaps this is because the car hasn't been driven in 20 days, but I'm not sure.

Anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Thanks.

you might wanna replace ur fuel filter. also check to seee if ur fuel pressure is up, if not u might have a bad pump. also just make sure that ur injectors are not leaking like mine's were befor i fixed them. i also would not hurt to speed up ur timing

mine was doing this too, i had a bad coolant temp sensor. I was also getting a little bit of black smoke that i didnt know about(my dad was following me one day and he pointed it out). Could also be an 02 sensor. ?

Why was the car at the bodyman for the past 20 days?? straight paintjob or collision repair??

If it was just straight paintjob, then pull the airbox open & see if you didn't suck in some paper or something into the air filter that would cause the bogging.

If it was collision repair, then take it back. Tell them the car's not running right. Tell them it's running slower than normal and the throttle feels like it's bogging....if they are competent, they'll know what you mean by that.

Anyhow, hope this helps..

PS:
There's a laundry list of reasons why your car may be bogging...anything from loose or misadjusted throttle cable to EGR system problems...and is sometimes a pain in the behind to figure out...let the bodyman figure it out.
