-True Story. Learn from Our Stupidity!

It was around 1am on september 6, 2004. My friend and I had driven through dragons tail a few times before with a small car group (240s/rx7s) and thought we would do it again for fun by ourselves. Our friends followed behind in a hyundai as we lead the way in a red s13 hatch with me riding shootgun. It took us half an hour to reach Dahlonega, Ga from Duluth and almost turned back after passing a few cops nearing the mountain. Once we got to the begining of dragons tail we flashed our hazards to let our friends know and took off..

The thrill of taking those turns are something else (Over 300 in 11min I believe). There was noone on the road so we had both lanes all to ourselves going 65+mph. It had to be the most fun Ive ever had in a car. We slowed to past a suv and continued up blood mountain. Everything was great until we came to a sharp left turn. We entered completely wrong into the turn in the outside lane, going way too fast! The car shoot off the road going 70+mph. The last thing my friend remebers me saying was "oh shit!!" before he blacked out. The next 10 or so seconds were dead silience. It felt like a dream as we flew literally of the mountain and the only thing I could see were trees passing by in our head lights. My life didnt flash before my eyes, I just sat there with my mouth open taking it all in. Imagin someone swinging a baseball bat at your chest as hard as they could. Thats what it felt like when we hit. Somehow our car got stuck in between two huge ass trees which caught us and dropped us to a stop on the side of the mountain. We hit the trees kinda at a 45 degree angle so the seat belt took most of my weight. It was so strong that it broke my rib and pushed it into my lung causing it to collapse. The next thing I know we've crashed, my whole body is in pain, I cant breath normally, the front of the car is smoking, and my friend looks dead. I reached over to cut the engine off and shook my friend to try to wake him up. I've never been so scared. He started talking gibberish and moaning out loud. My next instinct was to get the hell outta there. My door was jammed shut and I could'nt crawl over my friend to get out. Which was a good thing because if I had gotten out of my side I would have fallin down the mountain to my death. So I sat there and waited until I heard my friends voice who were following behind our car. Along with them came the woman who we had past in the suv. She was a nurse at one of the local hospitals in Dahlonega. They went to the drivers side first because she thought he had the most damage. She kept asking us our names, what day it was, who was the president, and she also counted our pulse, and kept us still until the ambulance came. I owe her my life. (thank you) To make a long story short: I spent the next 5 days in intensive care with a tube in my chest and racked up over 15k in medical bills (which my friends auto insurance is currently paying off and then some). My friend ended up having a broken collar bone, concussion, and a few cuts and bruises. They told us if we had hit the trees dead on we would have died on impact, and if we did not get stuck we would have hit the lake at the bottom and drowned.

Its been 4 months since this happend and we are just now getting everything back to normal. It is a complete miracle that we even survived at all. Please learn from our mistakes. Amateurs should never try tongue by themselves. Prepare your car before any kind of motorsport. Never do stupid things on public roads. It almost cost us our lives...

Side note: Im planning on getting a tattoo over the scar on my chest where they put in the tube that says "to survive/ endure" in kanji.

Hi, my name is Chris and I was :Owned: by Blood Mountain.

"Amateurs should never try tongue?" What the hell were you and your friend doing? Sounds like some gay stuff to me.

Please don't get that tattoo. Chinese characters look retarded as tats. Nothing more funny than seeing a white guy or whoever with a chinese character on their body. Why don't you just get it written in english on there so people know what it means?

Glad that you are OK. Where is this Blood Mountain?

sucks for you guys, but you have to realize that if you are going to do Touge, then you must accept the consequences. Most people think, "It'll never happen to me."

...and your first mistake was double laning.

Hi Chris. I'm glad you've learned from your mistake. But even a professional driver can only do so much on a road he doesnt know. And i know it's hard to memorize 300 turns, so take it easy. Take it slow. Dont give up on something you like cause your friend was tryin to be superman

WOW.. I'm glad your ok. Welcome Back mang. Welcome - the fuck - Back.

Those roads up in the appalachains are crazy.. some look ehh.. not so tight, then just as you enter, you realize its a fucking 10ft U-turn. scary shat. Been there.. done that. thankfully I don't have the scar to prove it.

Good to hear that you've learned and now appreciate driving/life in general. Was there no rail at all though I mean kinda weird that there's no rail on a sharp mountain road.

shut up Flybizzle..lol..i've got gaelic, chinese, and thai written on me...yet i speak none of those languages...punk.. :fawkd:

but i do agree..sounds like you and your friend were being pretty stupid...using both lanes on a mountain road with switchbacks and blind corners, passing SUVs, etc...kind of asking for something bad to happen..it sounds like you came away from it with a better understanding though and you don't need any of us telling you how retarded it was...you already know...

glad to hear you are ok and recovered from it..at least physically..

well written by the way...i could feel it...:)

and i say get the tattoo..a couple of mine carry with them reminders of things i never want to forget..they can be very powerful...

Actually im black and ive studied japanese for over 4 years so I actually can read it. Blood Mt. begins in north Georgia. Its a very popular and deadly place for motorcyclists and auto x'rs.

was there a road side barrier? like a metal fence to keep you in?
Nope. The speed limit is 25 I believe so theres no reason for it. Atleast not at the part we were on.

the word kanji literally means Han Character (as in the Han people, the main ethnic group of china and the people who invented chinese and chinese characters)

Glad you survived and can live to tell the story. I can sit here and say I'd never be that stupid but we all make mistakes. People will do what they do regardless of the danger involved.

I will assume you are asian in ethnicity, in which case the tattoo would be very cool.. If you are anything but, then

I heard about that crash from some of the locals. I've run that stretch a few times as well as all over North GA, knowing your limits and driving respectfully make the difference. Passing people illegally and driving three times the speed limit is stupid.

well, the word 'kanji' is the japanese word for 'chinese character' and as most people know, japanese uses chinese characters as part of thier writing system. i would consider the words interchangable. so, your friend is right. and i'm right. and you were almost right. but now you can be right too :yum:

Wasup yuda! No worries man. Ive been eyeing a red s14 I might pick up next week. It has leather interior~ Shins also been looking for another hatch, so if you know any sellers hit him up. Once we get everything worked out we'll get back with you guys for some real auto x'ing/ drifting (road atl etc.). Even though I almost died that thrill of driving is just too strong.

Those mountains can be pretty dangerous, this isn't the first crash up there involving a 240 this fall. er, last fall. Whatever. Glad you guys are okay. I've been up there a few times, but I take it nice and slow (relatively), especially since I don't know the area very well and my car is basically stock. It's like someone else said, you think a corner is just a wide sweeper, and suddenly its this nasty decreasing radius turn and you start to plow and then there's a truck in the other lane going frickin fast and you're screwed. Keep it safe everybody, a hobby isnt worth your life.
Btw, I'm Yuda's friend from school..never met you guys though, I have a white s14

Glad to hear your alright. I rolled drifting a local canyon. Severed two tendons when my arm swung and hit windsheild on impact. 25K in medical bills / reconstructive plastic surgery.

lot of people comment on my scar, means something diffrent to those who bear it i suppose.so much more skill is required or available to learn I should say @ the track. you learn about real lines, and multiple lines - as apposed to 2 or 3 pre- layed out for you in the canyons

i second keeping it @ the track hehe know your limits, never drive @ 100% etc..
