i'm interseted in having them build me a motor for my 91'se and was wondering if anyone has heard anything bad about there motors? i've done a little research on there build up and after seeing what there motors have done on a dyno i'm sold. here are some prices on what i'm looking to spend to complete the swap:
1. motor build $3599 delivered to my door.
2. motor core charge $250
3. phat ka-t turbo manifold s13 $749
4. " " down pipe and dump tube s13 $349
5. " " sp50 turbo $ ?
6. " " intercooler and charge lines s13 $ ?
7. " " tial 38mm wastegate $ ?
so far i'm waiting for a e-mail to see if i purchase all this at once if i can get a package deal instead of buying everything seperate. let me know what you think. i know alot of people are going to say why not just get an sr for that price but i am a big fan of underdog motors. plus everyone else has an sr or rb so i think i'll just stick with the ka.

The KA is no underdog. I feel that an engine choice is personal, and for some it is because a engine is cool to have. The KA is awesome and I am in the middle of planning out a turbo system for it.
Having them build a engine for you sounds like a good idea. That way it is not ghetto fabbed. Do it the right way the first time and then it does not come back on you. Good luck.

Ivan and the boys at Sound Performance know what they are doing. You have no reason not to have 100% faith in them.

I think it is best to call them. I emailed them and still haven't heard anything from them. I called them and talked to him personally and was very helpful. I am letting them totally build my motor when I get out of college.
I have a ka-t right now and am just loving it.

Those guys seem extremely competent. If you have $6,000 lying around just to blow on a motor, then GO FOR IT!
It will seriously be a beast and a half.
Make sure you tweak the suspension, too, so you can take full advantage of the power you will be making. So, don't blow all of your budget on the engine.
But, then again, cars are a money pit. You can spend COUNTLESS dollars on them in the blink of an eye. And love every minute of it! :D

How much HP are you shooting for?
If less than 350, use a stock block. If more, than consider SP...they seem to have a great rep in the Supra community, and form Ivan's presence onthe forums...I'd bet you'll have ZERO trouble with them.
And while it may seem costly, the biggest lesson I've learned when doing car stuff is YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR...but you seem to understand that, based on your post.
Good luck with it, have fun.

i'm looking for about 300-350rwhp. considering this car is my daily driver and i also have a daughter to tranport, so i don't want it to be neck snapping fast. actually i'm going to build the motor and ten suspension around that. i had a civic that i spent about 3k on the suspension and then swapped the motor. when it was all said and done the car out handled the motor so i got rid of it and now i'm starting from scratch. thats why i'm going the opposite route this time. thats for all the feed back i'll keep you all posted with my current project.
