Well I found a Maxima with a full set of new Blizzak snow tires on 15 in' wheels and I want to buy 2 and put them on the rear of my s14, my front tires are pretty good right now, but they are 16 inch SE wheels. So I'm wondering, it's not bad for the car - just weird looking - to have 16 inch in the front and 15 in the rear, I figure the sidewall might be bigger on the Blizzaks anyways...

That's a bad idea.

why dont you just buy all 4 of the wheels and tires?

Money issues, I don't have a lot and part time work + other car repairs means 200 dollars is more appealing than 400 dollars... I'm pretty sure the sidewall is thicker on the Blizzaks anyways so they'ld be close to the same...

if you are going to get snows it is best to put them on all four
that said if you only do two it is better than none at all so in answer to your question it will look goofy as hell but will not cause any damage to your car

Definitly , if you're going to be driving in snow you should be well prepared i.e. chains, snow tires on all fours at the right sizes. If you're just driving in the street dry u could run a funky setup and still be ok, but snow is nothing to F_CK with.

Well, I ended up getting just two, but side by side the 15 ends up being the same height as the 16's (big sidewall and thick tread) so it'll look a tad goofy but not that bad. I'm sure I'll do fine in the snow. Thanks for your opinions.

um.. forget how it looks.
the point is, you won't really be able to rotate your tires correctly with that combination.

Doesn't matter, as soon as April gets here I'm getting 4 brand new summer tires, either some Kumho 712's or Hankook Ventus and the winter tires will be off.

true but you cant rotate a staggered setup either not to mention why if he is only buying two snow tires would he want to rotate them to the front of his car?

My advice to you from a person that did this stupid, did I mention stupid idea cuz I didnt have money, take those tires back your ride will look like shit, it will ride like shit , and later on you probably wont have money or your gonna want to save up for something else and you wont buy the other 2 tires, my advice buy all four at once not seperate....
advice dont put the bigger tires in the front driveability will suck, always put bigger tires in the back, for some reason my 240 was really good at turning when they were on the back but they still looked like shit....get my point
