Well last night me and the friends decided to go drifting at the local spot when my car sudenly died. When I stopped my friends ran to my car saying the underneathe of my car was on fire. I popped my hood and sure enough there was a flame! but the flam was on the intake. My intake melted to a shread but I noticed there was power steering fluid EVERYWHERE. I investigated it to notice a bolt on the power steering pump had wiggled loose. But I still do not understand how it or any part of my engine cought on fire. If you guys could give me some insight id appreciate it. My car starts just fine now that i fixed the power steering unit and cleaned the melted plastic off the MAF. But I noticed inside my intake tube there is black oily stuff and im not quite sure what it is. I havnt driven my car or tried to boost with it so im not sure if there will be any further damage. But any advice or ideas would be much appreciated. (my car is a 1989 240sx coupe with a sr20det redtop)

omg that is a tragedy.
check if there is any damage in your turbine (if oil is coming out of it or anything). it sounds like a busted turbo...

SR + burn = cool.
Sounds like fluid ignited somewhere, whether it was PS or oil. The oil in the intake pipe wouldn't be blowby unless there's turbine damage.

I say get it checked out before it does further damage. dont leave it and drive it because it feels fine, youll regret it.

You dont have a filter on the end of your crankcase breather do you?

if you are using teh stock setup for teh most part, then teh tube that connects teh intake to teh valve cover (as a breather for case pressure) then oil will be in yoru intake tube, its a buildup of oil vapors. And if you have a decent bit of oil closer to the turbo and in yoru hotpipe, then its prolly from teh journal bearings in teh turbo goin bad, they do that when they get old and worn in.
