On the back of the motor, where the valve cover and head meet.... there are 2 vacuum sensors. The one on the driver side is brown, and the one on the passenger side is black. Can they be capped off or by passed? PLEASE help!

One is the EGRC solenoid. I'm not sure on the other. Reading now.

If the EGR sticks closed, go for it. If it sticks open god bless.

Brown is the EGRC solonoid, the black is the SCV Solonoid.

all i know about it is this a quote from the fsm "S.C.V control soleniod valve" "the scv control solenoid valve cuts the intake manifold vacum signal for swirl control valve. it resonds to the ON/OFF signal from thr ECM. when the selenoid is off, the vacum signal from the intake manifold is cut. when the ecm sends an onsignal the coil pulls the plunger and feeds the vacum signal to the swirl control actuator." and if i am not mistaken the swirl contol is that tiny little trottle looking thing with a plunger on the bottom, located at the back of the intake manifold that if u push (or open) like a throttle body opens and closes the flaps inside the intake mani. hense swirl. i think so. so dont quote me on that last part, if it even makes sense. ok well i thought i would give my 2 sense soo if anyone would like to prove me wrong be my guest. because if i am wrong i would like to know what is correct. thanx

Okay you can block off the SCV if you want, I dont know if your going to throw a code but it wont hurt you. My question to you is why do you want to bypass it?

Understand I DONT have a running motor to test this on, but I applying logic and knowledge of the system and my old SOHC sitting in the backyard.

IF the SCV is simply creating a swirl motion of air, like those tornado thingys, at idle to increase the efficency of combustion at idle, bypassing it should not be a huge problem.
