OK i got this 89 240sx bout 3 months ago with rebuilt ka24e and p&p head, well when i first got it, it was great. now for some reason it burns SO MUCH OIL its rediculous and i dunno why. compression is good on all cylinders. lets see i put in a quart 2 days ago, drove bout 200 or soo, i checked it again today and what do ya know i need to add another quart. sometimes when i accelerate i can see a lil black smoke outta the tail pipe :wtf: anyone have any ideas or remedies. or should i just wait to put in dohc, whenever i get the harness and other stuff to do the swap. cause at the momment i am thinkING i am FUKED! :rl:

mines the same way but it doesnt burn as much. i just ignore it and keep on filling oil whenever neccesary. mine doesnt have black smoke though. maybe a new headgasket would help?

Check your spark plugs

If they are clean, then you have a mystery oil leak. However if they are dirty, then it's either your valve seals or piston rings. Have you done a compresson leak down test??

Anyhow...hope this helps...

Valve seals would do it mostly on startup or after it has been idled for a while and then accelerated. The oil ring could be a possiblity as well due to it will not really affect the compression. The PCV valve can cause oil consumption.

Add some Marvel Mystery Oil (red bottle) during an oil change, it fixes valve seals and a bunch of other things...Ive fixed a prob like this before (not my car, though) with this stuff and add some everytime I change the oil in the SR.
