it's their market.
don't like it? Use Yahoo! auctions.
Your auction won't have NEARLY the exposure though.

Nice to see them flex their Monopoly. I got pissed off with them along time ago. Hopefully some one will make some compition.

most of my rage is that, that they have a monopoly (I would hardly consider yahoo a competitor) and there is nothing I can do about it and I have to keep using there service and it makes me pissed,

Yes, big "FUCK-YOU" Ebay. Sooner or later they'll probably charge us for bidding. :cj:

Yea, it wouldn't surprise me if they did that. I got the e-mail and was shocked.

Don't forget Ebay owns Paypal, so that 3% cut they take goes to Ebay, too.
On a different note, all normal sellers (I can rack up $500 worth of fees in one month of listing headlights with the old pricing) get fucked, while pocket bike listing fees dropped from $30 to $3.

Some eBay sellers lash out over fee increase

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan 13 (Reuters) - Numerous eBay Store sellers lit up the Web auctioneer's message boards on Thursday, railing against upcoming fee increases and looking for alternative ways to sell their wares online.

San Jose, California-based eBay said on Wednesday it would raise several fees for eBay Stores sellers on Feb. 18.

Among other things, the cost of a monthly subscription for a basic eBay Store will go up 60 percent to $15.95. The cost of 10-day listings will double to 40 cents and final value fees that are assessed when a sale closes also will rise.

Sellers complained that the fee increases will take a bigger chunk out of their take from sales. Some said it may force them to raise their own prices amid a weak economy, and others asked for feedback on other companies, such as Overstock.com , that may be alternatives to eBay.

"Thanks eBay! This $3,000+ per month seller is done for good on Feb. 17," wrote one Power Seller who specializes in toys.

Still others griped that sellers of big items like autos and heavy construction equipment will get some breaks on fees with the recent adjustments, and attempted to foment a uprising against eBay's pricing move.

"There must be enough of us 'Davids' out here to whip 'Goliath's' behind," wrote one active eBay seller of everything from bras and purses to a restored personal computer.

i think they did this in due to the recent trends of everybody opening ebay shops... hell yah that chit is annoying when you search "JDM 240sx" and you come up with Tenzo R seats and Bride steering wheels.. lol

I want to run a business of my own someday, but with trends, theres too much competition.

make a www.zilvia/auction.net

It's been discussed here among the admins, but was cost prohibitive at the time. Will look into again and see if it could be done.

the whole thing with ebay and other auction sites is exposure like meph said, the only advantage of an auction place here would be for 240 stuff cuz we are all 240 guys, and even then I have found that mostly all my shit i sell on ebay either goes overseas for double anything that Id get from an american, or if not overseas, to other people that arent on the forum, so still ebay would be the better place, people need to look at yahoo, also like zanos said, how the fuck do they get away with no customer service, you cant find an email address or telephone, whoever runs this company is just a money hungry douche, (dont blame em, but still fuck that)

They did.....sorta. My freind registered for eBay right when he opened a debit account so he put in the info for it,and ebay took out a penny to make sure it was a real account....they later put the penny back in,but he got charged $35 for overdraft.....And NOWHERE in the registration does it say they do that. It says completely free....wasn't for him :cj:

^ I would agree, however, on ebay, that shit, even in the 240sx community, still out-sells real JDM equipment 10 to 1, most likely even more than that... To make $$ you have to cater to the cheapskates.... Sux but thats the way it is... But I would definitely like to see REAL JDM equipment or useful USDM equipment sold exclusively somewhere....

I'm a Ebay powerseller and the rate increases are really gonna suck, but maybe they will offer more free list days and other stupid little bonuses that they do to offset the price increases and make some of us "happy".....

91CRXsiR
01-14-2005, 08:35 PM
its normal for them to raise rate, the sellers will just pass the cost to the consumer, think of it as rising realestate values and the owner charging the tenent more rent etc etc..

that said I pay almost $10,000.00 a month in eBay fees so yea it sucks.. but you can't complain " literally, cuz you can't get in touch w/ them hahahah"

eBay is full of shit. I stopped using their service after they declined to investigate a jackass who screwed me over on some rotors. Fawk them.

start using yahoo auctions and shift the market...
and there are more payment companies other than PayPal. like buyerzone, bidpay, worldpay, there's a ton. it's not a complete monopoly.

ebay IS full of shit,i was ripped off by some seller too,and guess what, ebay didnt do anything about it.Cause there is no customer service. And you know what,im still using their service,in fact i just sold the car there............And i HATE ebay(only because of the customer service, and the stress it causes),but all the exposure you get,and seems that everyone is using ebay right now,all the good stuff is there,i cant help it,but check out the auctions at least couple of times a week.
Yahoo auctions are dead,i think people rather pay ebay fees, than sell on yahoo. You will never get that much exposure, and that much money for your items.........and in the end,who told you if yahoo auctions were as much succesfull as ebay, they wouldnt jack their fees up???
