99.1 WHFS, the local rock/punk/alternative station changed format today at noon. They changed to latin pop! The well known DJs of the station were unaware of the change until this morning.
2 of the DJs, Big O and Dukes just received their own show, from 6-10 at night, after years of working for HFS, doing all their bitch work and working their asses off just to get a show. They got it for a couple months and now their dreams are destroyed.
And the sports junkies (6-10 in the morning) will probably be shipped back to JFK, which I think is a DC station.. which I dont pick up in Northern MD.
I never thought something so small could hit me so hard, but theres definatly an empty spot in me now. I never realized what music was to me... but I listened to that station every day at work, for 8 hours... 5 days a week. And today was just akwardly quiet. I wasn't motivated to move.
Good people lost their jobs, and now I'm left with no way to hear good music (yes, all the other stations suck that bad). The station was also a vital part to DC/Bmore rock club scene, giving away tickets and putting on shows weekly.
