Well i've been researching a lot i mean a lot about doing a sr20det swap or hooking up a turbo to my ka24de with 120,000 miles. So far i can get a sr20det for $2200 and install it myself with some help or i can spend $900 bucks and have it someone install it for me. This is the thing though i have an auto and its not bad but i hate it even though its still fun and dont have enough money or resources to get the m/t swap. Being in high school with a s14 its hard doing anything but im finacially able to probably afford the sr20 but i dont want to change all of the drivetrain in my 95 s14 until it atleast goes bad because its my daily driver.

So far i have upgraded most of my suspension and im going to continue on doing so just incase i cant come up with something boosted. This is what i need help in deciding on what turbo kit to get i know which are available but so far this is the cheapest ones.

TOP MOUNT SSAutochrome Turbo Kit .50 A/R: $725.00 - This is what im aiming at but... What else would i need to run it? How would it work without the intercooler?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7946547455&category=33742

Greddy kit: $2,519.99 - Why is it for 96+ i forgot?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7945304135&category=33742

Finally what would anyone else recommend and please dont flame :coolugh: .

Thanks for the help.

So far i need to get a new fuel pump, hacked maf and do some tuning. I've searched and checked the faqs for this info but i need some new/better opinions and im not planning on going more than 8 psi of boost.

Your already looking to turbo the car which isnt going to go exactly as expected especially if you put it in yourself. Your most likely going to have problems. So what does it matter if you did change the drivetrain. I say go for it but not at the same time as you throw in the turbo

1-dont buy ss autochrome especially if you're not mechanically inclined and cant weld or cut/form metal to make stuff fit and then weld it back together when it breaks.

2-the greddy kit is 96+ cause it's for OBDII cars, i dont know the details.

3- i recommend you first do a 5-speed conversion and start saving again for an sr. there's a lot of fun to be had with our torquey 2.4L, but it cant be done with an auto(properly). Then get an lsd.

I would look into the http://www.boostdesigns.com/ kit.

The SSa kit will break on you. There is a thread about a SS kit that the turbo cracked in half. Most peoples manifolds crack at some point. I would not buy a MAJOR performance part of ebay.

The greddy kit needs to have some work done to it to make it perform flawlessly. It needs to have the internal wastegate divorced or it will creep like hell. There are some other minor things like the tuning sucks but, It's way to expensive to consider.

agreed for doing the m/t swap first. best bet is to do the tranny swap and get more experience drinving with the stick first, before you attach power. basically all the advice is so you have less of a steep learning curve to climb up.

#1 m/t swap
#2 if you stay KA go with boostdesigns kit
# if you go SR ignore #2 and plan on saving up cash for regular maintainence like your KA motor

Your budget will decide what option you will choose.
As of right now, I am getting parts for my Turbo KA
Stay away from SSA crap unless you want to spend more
How much boost are you plan to run? Remember more boost-more power-more cash to spend and maintain.
Already I have spent:
150 Turbo (T3 AR.42 compressor/AR .63 turbine)
80 370cc injectors
200 SAFC
190 JGS manifold

All prices have shipping added (quite high shipping) and basically I am missing the intercooler (plus fittings and such)
So for 7 psi max (my intended goal) I already spent almost 700. I expect to reach maybe the $1000 or less budget on this.
The key to save some cash is patience my friend.
Search around forums and Ebay looking for parts
As for your tranny, dunno how much they can handle but if I were you, I had installed an extra tranny cooler at least

If you're gonna do it, do it right. Boostdesigns sells a nice stage1 kit with Intercooler, mani, dp, piping, turbo (t3 super 6o, or for $200 extra, a t3/t04e 50trim or 57trim) external wastegate, recirc bov, bungs already welded to piping for w/g and bov. Its really everything you need, and its right at 2k. Minus of course, safc2/injectors/fuelpump. So all in all, if you want to do it all out and in one shot, without buying used stuff (not taht theres anything wrong with it, just be careful of what you buy) you're looking at 2300 or so.

I'm not certian, but I believe that the boost design turbos are the xspower / ssautochrome ones. Parting everything together yourself will take more brains and time but you will save money and know how everything works together better. Dont forget tuning and monitoring...you cant just bolt the parts on and go.

BOOSTDESIGNS is a private company and DEFNITELY not ssautochrome or xspower. And boostdesigns kit is pretty much as complete a kit as you're gonna find, you get the fuel, tehy got everything else. And its quality stuff from what everyone tells me, no problems.

Their turbo's are Generic Garetts. Nothing special or Mad Tight. But, certainly not crap.
