I have a 1997 240sx SE and just bought a 96 VLSD for $300 which came with out the rubber bushing. My question is that will the rubber bushing from my stock open diff fit on to the VLSD? Also what else do I need to complete the installation? One of my buddy said that I need 2 half axle. The other one said that I need to replace the drive shaft which will leak transmission oil if I don't. If anyone know about installing a VLSD please share the knowledge. Thanks

rubber bushings are the same.

axle flanges should both be 6-bolt, if ur diff came out of an S14.

measure from the center of the forward mount holes to the front face of the d/s (driveshaft) flange. this is where the prob mightbe (pinion snout length). if that measurement is different, then u either need a 5spd LSD d/s OR have your stock one modified. the difference will be over an inch, so u don't have to measure exactly

my diff came out of a J30 with ABS, my car did NOT have ABS. the sensor is in the pinion snout, and the snout is longer. this means i need a d/s or shorten mine.......haven't done it yet

hope this helps!

yenpit, check ur messages.. i left u one.

it was basicaly asking about your experiences with ur lsd. So you never shortened your drive shaft? and have no problems? was the different gear ratio THAT different or hardly noticable?.. did you have someone do it? did you do it yourself? etc. thanks man

i haven't installed it yet, but i'l prob end up havin a machine shop shorten my stock shaft. its gotta be correct length, otherwise u will over-extend it OR bind it up . i'll post install, but prob not for a while yet!
