new to the forum. used to have an '89, went through two mr2s and decided to get another nissan. now, im deciding whether to buy an s14 or not. my question is:

i am looking at a 95 coupe. but recently, i am rethinking whether i should wait for an se to pop up instead. this coupe is a steal though so im torn. is there anything more the se has besides: 5-lug nut, rims, front lip, fogs, most likely abs and lsd, and (so ive heard, but not sure) different gearing?

thanks for any advice or help

You will more than likely receive front/ rear stabilizers bars, a smooth leather interior, although not Recommended for Drift, but good to learn in, creates focus stability when hitting lateral G's. As well as a Tip from me. . You better not get the car and not know what to do with it. Respect the car not the hype that has been built behind it, if you've been through 3 car's (maybe trying to drift) no accusations to you, then I suggest you take yah time on locating this nissan, they are not easy to come by in quality, anymore.

lmao. he didn't say anything about wanting to drift. i think we're all a little oversensitive about bandwagoning.

anyway, alot of the se 'features' are actually options that could have come on a base model as well. for instance there is a SE my friend is trying to sell has no VLSD. in other words, inspect the car, figure out whats important to you and consider each car you see. none of the se options are particularly critical, but it depends on which path you want to take.

want to be a mad jdm tyte tuner? then the 5 lug hubs will save you alot of trouble. but 300zx brakes + flush wheels aren't any kind of performance necessity (as i recently learned myself). cheapo front lips are hard to come by as well. personally, i think abs and a vlsd are probably the only really worthwhile options for this car. the rear sway bar isn't too hard to come by, so i wouldn't sweat it if the car doesn't come with one.

i've never heard of a the s14 se having different gearing.

oh dont get me wrong, im into drifting...as a SPECTATOR sport. really dont have the money for it. rather make this s14 a road racer. not letting the "hype" get to me either. personally i think there could be more to silvias than drifting. not saying its a bad thing, but not everybody has to feel inclined to "try it" just because they have one. i know i didn't when i had my single cam. made this thread before i discovered the faq section and some other forums. most of my ?s have been answered, but any other advice or help would be appreciated.

so it turns out coupes and se have the same gearing all the other stuff seems to be cosmetic. except for the abs and the vlsd. hopefully my guy decided to get the option. checking identification plate (not vin) tomorrow...

if you've been through 3 car's (maybe trying to drift) no accusations to you

went through three cars cuz im an indecisive bitch that wants different tastes in everything every 10 seconds! one of my flaws i would say...

i know a few ppl like that. one kid went through a s13 hatch, a s14se, then a brand new civic si (got hit), then a brand new bmw (gave it to his parents), then a s13 coupe (just sold it) - mind you this is all in the ONE year. don't know what he's driving now. he just likes driving different kinds of cars. good luck with whatever u end up doing.

thanks for all your advice. checking for the abs/vlsd option tomorrow and looking into the details of the five lug nut conversion.

i think the name means "sw20 going to s14," as he had 2 mr2's and is looking for a s14...
