Hey I am gonna be buying a S13 soon and I was just wondering what the best year is to get, like the year with the least problems or is the 1990 better in the long run than a 92 ya know what I mean. Just wondering everyones opinion and hopefully it will help me out too. Thanks

anything with less miles will be more reliable obviously. None of the engines are more problem prone than others (other than the SOHC leaky injectors) The 91-92 models had the most aggressive cams out of the lot though. Plus 91-94 s13's all had the DOHC engine so thats a little better in the long run as well.

like sykikchimp said 91-94 are DOHC. If you plan on getting an SR swap I have been told that the 91-94s are easier to deal with becuase of the gauges,

yeah i've heard the thing about the gauges too, you have to get 91+ something about the power steering pump too. i'd get a 91+ just for the fact that quality turbo kits are easier to find, if you didn't want to swap an SR engine. injectors would be easier to find too.

1991 is the fastest.... you can get either a 91, 92 or 93 though <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

i'd say 91...but the only reason i think it's "faster" is because the 91 is the lightest out of all s13's...don't know the weight specs...somebody posted the weight for each year on an old post before...it's like a 100-200lb difference or something...

He's just saying that if you do a SR swap the Tach wont work. The tach for a SOHC doesnt work on a DOHC engine.

91's have a more aggressive Cam. People do swap in 91 cams into their 92+ 240's. Its a cheap mod if you can do the work yourself and find one in a junkyard, but its not going to make a huge difference.
