View Full Version : Water getting into the trunk... Why?

since it's rainy day in bay area recently, i discover that my trunk was all wet... the water get into the trunk because of heavy rain... do u guys have any idea and tell me why the water can go into the trunk? iare there any leaks? thanks!

Its the hatch, and I don't know where. I remove the carpet and pull the drain plug under the spare tire.

Check the rubber seals around your taillights, along with the seal on your rear hatch. Those are usually the main spots where water gets into your vehicle. If you have a rear spoiler, it's possible the water could be leaking thru the bolt holes where the spoiler bolts down to the hatch.
Anyhow, hope this helps...

mine leaks too!! but i dont kno where it leaks from so i just dont put anything in the hatch anymore

Mine used to leak until i fixed it. If you look at your weather strip follow it all the way down to the taillights and on top youll probably see a gap between the plastic and frame. The water leaks behind the lights into the spare tire compartment. I used window sealer stuff to seal those areas so the water will just flow right over where the gaps used to be :).

do you have a oem hatch wing? if you do then it might be getting in throught the holes where the wing is attached to the hatch.

yes, i have the OEM spoiler on my s13, i also think that the water go into the trunk by the holes... but what can i do to stop it? anyone know? or it's not fixable? just like u guys have the OEM spoiler?
