Does anyone know how to decipher a Japanese Vin #? I pulled the Vin tag off the engine bay on my front clip, but I just want to know the year of my SR20DET. All I know is that its a Blacktop RPS13, so its between the years of 1994-1998. The Vin is as follows: RPS13-202588. I tried going to www.carfax.com but it requires 17 digits, and the Japanese Vin # only has 11 digits. Is there any other way to determine the year of my engine? Is there somewhere else I need to look on the clip to find the year?

I dont think there is a place on the block that'll tell you the year...maybe the ECU?? The ridges on the front of the block, just below the valve cover, tell you its a '94-'98.... But I dont think the motor has anything on it that'll tell you the exact year....

ahh
you work at a dealership?
Is that a new tool? I don't remember having that in the versions of FAST I used. I think I've got a FAST dongle somewhere in my house. :keke:

Thanks pimp!!! I was hoping it would be newer but I guess I got the older of the bunch. I just recently installed the motor and everything runs fine, but I have yet to drive it. I'm itching to take it for a spin. :bite: Happy New Year guys!!!!
