I've got access to a 1997 J30 diff.... anybody ever swap a 1997 model year J30 diff into a 240sx? Its got the 6-bolt outputs (like the the other '95-96 J30's and the S14s) but is there any other difference or will it even fit? I did a search on Google and didnt find much at all with the 1997 up J30 diffs... one site said they (Nissan) changed something during the 1997 model year.... Anybody know?

measure everything to check for fitment is 1 way to go, take out the stock diff. off your 240 and put on J30 diff to check for fitment is another option, or wait for further replies.

Exact same, and you knew that.

Well, I kinda knew that.... I had a suspicion. I've heard of a few people had swapped them... but I was looking for a more definitive answer to the question. So it's the same as any other ('95-'96) J30 diff.?
This is copied from KA24development.com about the diff.:
1994-1997, with production dates "from 1/94" often given for the '94s (meaning it changed during the '94 model year)... and "Thru 6/96" given for '97 diffs (likewise, meaning it changed sometime in the '97 model year)... In addition, some of these diffs have in the comments "3.92 ratio" or something to that effect. If you search for a '97 J30 differential, you get 3 options: "Thru 6/96", "From 7/96 thru 11/96", and "From 12/96"... meaning there were actually TWO changes during the '97 model year. What those changes were...who knows???

Changes were made to gearing, not fitment.

The later J30 diffs had a 1 peice bushing+rubber spacer/washer, the earlier had 2 peices. I know this because the Infiniti dealership ordered both sets of parts for me just incase (he wasnt sure what the difference was) and I didnt go with the 97+ peice because I would have had to press out my original bushing in favor of the 1 peice (which was like $90/pair)....so I just kept my original bushing in (pre 97) and just bought the upper washer/spacer.
Other differences....I have no idea.
