Hey y'all, I just got into the import tuning game (and zilvia) and wanted to say hello. I'm a hot rodder from way back but all of my experience has been on Chevy V8's, like the 327 in my '55 2 door post. Check out my web page to see all my hot rod toys.
Anyway, I was searching the net for info on my new to me '91 240sx and found this site. There seems to be a lot of very informed people out there making posts to the tech forum and I've learned a lot just from reading that. Thanks!
I bought my car in Aug '01 for $250. Yep, it was a POS. Needed a paint job, interior cleaning, tires, brakes, struts, clutch kit and oh yeah...it had two melted pistons in the block, #2 and #3. I was just gonna fix it up a little and sell it for some profit to spend on my '55. But after I got it runin' and drove it I saw the potential. It's a really fun car to drive and git's great gas mileage.
So far I've had it painted, 2002 Corvette Red, painted the mirrors, 3rd brake light trim and center tail light section, installed clear turn signals, Canidian DRL's and ML320 side markers (great idea), got a PDM wing, 16x7 wheels, tinted the windows, new system, OBX shifter (love that) and synthetic fluid (shifts much smoother), Denso plugs, Accel 8mm wires, removed the clutch fan and gone with an electric one (revs a lot quicker), home made CAI, and installed a K&N filter. I can already tell a difference with just that stuff.
I'm fixin ta git new exhaust (can't decide- 2.25 or 2.5, I think I'll go with 2.5), already got an OBX dual tip muffler with 2.5 inlet and I gotta git sum lowering springs, probably Eibach.
Well, that's about it. Like I said, just wanted to say hello and give y'all a little background info on me 'cause yer probably gonna see me make a few posts.
Later,
HotRodGuy

Welcome to our domain! I think that you will find that imports are a blast, I used to be heavy into domestics too, until I found out how bastardly and closed minded a lot of them can be (well that's not the only thing that turned me). Obviously, you are one of the cool ones that keeps an open mind! What color did you paint it? Did you paint it yourself? Anyways, welcome!

Hey fastnissan, my mom lives in Rimrock, AZ about 15 mi from Sedona. She loves it out thar.
I live just west of Nashville, TN. The Power Tour was a blast! I stopped in Williams, said my goodbuys to my PT buddies and went to visit my mom.

DrDubbleB, yer right about the ADM folks being closed minded. All my buddies are calling me "import boy" now. I think they'll change their minds when I git my 240 the way I want it and blow their doors off.
I painted it "2002 Corvette Red", I just couldn't git away from Chevy altogether. I'll have sum pic's of it on my web page soon. A friend of mine has a body shop so he painted it and did the body work, I helped a little. I'm mostly a mechanic not a paint and body man.
Thanks fer the welcome!

The only good ADM, is oldschool...I don't like really any of the new stuff, except stuff that I can't afford (Vipers, Callaway Corvettes, etc). The old school stuff I still love though!

hello, welcome to the board. chevy fan eh? i'm going the oppositte direction actually, i've had my 240sx since may of 99, but i'm getting a z28 annnnny day now. my cousin works at a used car lot, and if it weren't for him wrecking his 97 camaro RS, last weekend, i would have been the proud owner of a camaro z28 6-speed with SS hood and wing, light aftermarket 17's, pulleys, headers, exhaust, chip, injectors, $2000 paint job. all for $4,500 (it was repossesed i believe), but my bastard cousin took it because he had cash and paid for it. so the next one, i'm getting and taking out a loan for. i'll be joining the dark side..or would i be leaving it.. anyway i love the 55 chevy you're working on.

Did you know that the paint on that car weighs 47lbs?
I dident believe it at first but i was watching something on corvettes and vette specialty shops that build crazy cars for customers and they said the first thing they did was strip the factory paint off and repaint.... thus saving 47lbs.... brutal

Yenpit: Yeah, unforunately the improts are the hot rods of today. Never been to woodward, but I got a few friends in MI now so I may try to go this year.
Matic 240: Havent had time to check out yer web site yet. I'll probably git the Pro Kit, maybe next month.
burgy240: You tawkin bout the 67 Camaro on my web site? Yeah, that is a nice car, got a built 383 and a 4 speed. Kool! My friend has a 69 Vert RS/SS, black w/white stripes. It's a real nice one.
King: Don't know how to git into the ADM scene...you too funny! ADM, JDM who cares as long as it's coo!
DrDubbleB: You got it rite, Old Skool ADM is the way to go! Some of the new stuff is nice though, like the new Dodge 500R/T. You heard about that? It's a 1/2 ton PU with a 500HP Viper V10, 6 speed and suspension. Their supposed to be coming out next year, we'll see. I ain't really into Dodge, but that's gota be one bad truck!
whateverjames: Hummm...a JDM guy going to ADM, that's kool, as long as you keep the 240. Bummer that you missed out on the 97 Z28, sounds like a nice car. Hey, I checked out yer web site, acutally it was one of the first ones that I came across. Nice!
Drifting Ricer: I ain't going totally JDM, I gota stick to my roots in Chevyland! What's better about a '95? I thought that they were the same, except that the '91 has "hot cams".
Fresh 240sx: Wow, 47 lbs fer paint! Good thang that I ain't worried about weight. I thought that my car sat a little lower after I got it back from the body shop, now I know why.
Thanks fer everyones reply's, this JDM scene ain't too different than the ADM scene that I'm used to. I guess it just goes to show that car folks are car folks, no matter what ya drive!

Welcome to the party. I used to have a '72 malibu with a 396 block 4 barrel carb and straight pipes. Was sky blue with white racing stripes. Loved that car. As far as drifting ricer with his silly thoughts on the '95 just ignore him. '91 fastback is the only way to roll.
