could you gain more high-end power if you de-stroke the KA down to 2.2, or would at least carry the power up past 6000 RPM? and then turbocharge it, anyone see any problems with this? it's kind of like a SR, but still having the torque of the KA. i think it's a match made in heaven

it hasn't been done yet... so people can only speculate.

would a Z22 crank fit the KA24?? or would you get a custom made crank.... if you had a custom made crank, it'd be fully counterweighted unlike the half counterweighted stock KA crank, and you'd get a higher redline right there. de-stroking would only take this further.

the "real" problem as i see it is the stock cams, though.

IMO, yes, it's possible to build a good KA22DET that would carry power WELL past 6k rpms and still have some torque in it.

De-stroking the KA would more than likely make it lose some of the torque that you talk about. That's usually what happens when you make an engine to rev higher, more high-end power, less low-end. Personally, I would like to see this done as well because so far I have only hear theories.

I couldn't tell you anything other than an ignorant speculation but this is the best engine topic I've heard in awhile. I would love to see this when it's done and find out exactly what it runs like.

actually it has been done Sorry Ace me got the info first
Rebello did it with a KA24e for racing . From what I have heard about it they had to do some bearing journal resizing. It worked but it was expensive. If you owned a machine shop then it would not cost you . Just time and work.
ah well Turbo my KADE with lightened flywheel and be happy

lol....why spend money on an SR when you can get more power out of a KA with less $$
this belongs in another thread

so they didn't use a new crank... just off center machined the stock crank?? you could increase/ decrease the stroke minimally like that... but nothing major like a 2.2L KA

Destroke thats one way to go, but I kinda want to know if it can be done the other way to stroke the KA. Is there any way to make it a 2.5 or say even a 2.6 liter engine?
