Got Sileighty?

ok had this exhaust for a couple months now. finally had time to have it installed yesterday. ok review time:

i bought the exhaust cuz i heard that its really quiet. well after it was installed, i cant believe how quiet it is. i think it might even be more quiet than stock. or maybe i was just used to the sound of running with no muffler. anyway it's really really quiet, but i can definitely feel the added power, however much it is. the car feels a lot smoother, especially on upshifts. overall, im very very happy with my buy. i only have one minor problem: the muffler looks pretty big, and the tip actually sticks out of the body.

pros: quiet, got it for cheap, better than the annoying sound of running w/o muffler

cons: might be too quiet for some, kinda big, tip sticks out of body

ANYWAY...here are the pics:

Looks nice. Could it be the ExMag killer?

cut the to hook over the exhaust!
once you slap on a rear kit it probly wont look that far out.

i tell this to everyone with a fresh exhaust...cut off your tow hook (s13s) and then put worm drive hose clamps over all of the hangers that are on the muffler and tighten them down as far as you can...this will prevent the muffler from bouncing, and will also hold it up against the bumper giving you more clearance and a better overall look.

There is no 80mm version. Only 60mm (NA) and 70mm (Turbo).

Ask Changbang, he works for 5zigen, and I got mine from him a long time ago (I no longer own it).

It's a very nice, quiet exhaust. Good looks, I like how the whole muffler is blinged out. Two-piece. I like it a lot. Unfortunately its JDM-only so not super easy to get your hands on.

Good alternative to the RS*R ExMag but unfortunately the piping size is not 80mm.

IIRC phase2 and JSpec can get it fairly easily...

Word.. i measured mine at 2 3/4 inches so i took a guess at 75mm.
Kazuo do you have the Realize exhaust now?

when the guy was putting it on, i saw the tow hook, and i thoguht it wouldnt clear. but it did, with about half an inch of space....so why would i need to cut it off?? other than for the looks i guess.

mainevent, what are worm drive hose clamps? i might try your suggestion if i come across clearance issues. i havent really tested it yet, other than my driveway.

tygma, i got the 60mm version.

so whats the deal with the exmag? is it supposed to be all quiet too or something?

A few things:

- the exhaust tip may stick out a bit, but over the long run it won't burn your bumper. Big tip exhausts lose exhaust gas velocity at the end and often it ends up burning the rear bumper...

- the exhaust was designed to be a mild exhaust. If you want more aggressive sound/performance by all means get something louder.

- the exhaust is either 70mm piping size or 60mm. for KA it is perfect.

- if you have old exhaust hangers, replace it with new ones and/or with Nismo hard rubber ones. If you use old sagging hangers the exhaust WILL crack prematurely from stresses related to it bouncing around more than normal. almost every single case of a "bad exhaust" i've seen has been associated with bad exhaust hangers...

Yes I do. I love it. It's just like the Border III... except w/o the bling and bigger piping.

76mm piping (3 inch), still a two piece, and still hella quiet (resonated).

I do miss that Border III.

Alex: Thanks for the info, I've been lagging on getting solid hangers, now I have a good excuse. :D

worm drive hose clamps...aka hose clamps used on I/C pipes/intakes

How does the 70mm version sound on NA KA? I don't want a loud exhaust and since everyone claims the 60mm is super quiet, the 70mm should be pretty quiet also. (At least not as loud as a 80mm exhaust) I know from your previous dyno result with the Pro-Racer, KA can really make use of bigger piping, and who doesn't want bigger bang for the buck? Seems like if I were to get an exhaust now, it would either be this or the ExMag...

looks really nice. youll looovee the sound of it with header and test pipe if you ever go that route.

Let me put it this way:

On my car prior to me crashing it, at full throttle the exhaust cannot be heard. All you hear is intake noise.

At idle is actually when you can hear it the most... but frankly the exhaust is so quiet if you ever get a ticket for it, it would be based on almost nothing.

The in-car sound is almost on par with a stock exhaust (assuming you have a full interior)... outside the car you can hear it more.
