View Full Version : Bay Area: anyone with an angle grinder or similar tool to cut metal bumper support?

If anyone in the Bay Area has an angle grinder or stong cutting tool to cut through the metal bumper support, I require your help. I can treat you out to lunch afterwards. I need to get my JDM Kouki S14 bumper to fit but a portion of the bumper support interfers with the urethane bumper.

angle grinder works pretty well. cuts metal like butta baby..

I have a dremel but not sure if I have the right bits. Hey Tinman, I remember I bought something from you before...do u remember, we met up at Rotten Robbie's late at night one day.

let me know if you have the correct bits to cut through the bumper support...it's pretty thick sheet metal.

if not, it's cool. if anyone else with an angle grinder could help, let me know! thanks

ooh yea. haha, MUDGUARDS!!

im not sure about the bits but i cut through a fender with them. the harbor freight deal sounds good, i say go for it! let us know if it doesnt work out

Sorta sad that the "Tinman" doesn't have anything better than a dremel to cut metal! ;0

hahah...angle grinder didn't work nearly as well as I thought. It heated up the metal to the point where it was red, and I didn't like the burning smell and intense amount of sparks.

I really did end up using a dremel, sounds crazy huh? well it took me probably 3 hrs for one side (I test fitted the bumper about 10+ times)...so I could see exactly what area was the problem. Once I found the minimum amount to remove, I did it on the other side, at a faster RPM (probabyl 16-20k) and it cut soo fast and I finished in about 1/2 hour.

I'm just glad I took the time to get it perfectly cut...I'm so happy with the results.
