Kinda ironic how I saw The Day After Tomorrow DVD...two days before (Note: the tidal wave scene that plowed through NYC).
Death toll at 23,200 last time I checked. But then again, are casualties usually overexaggerated or underestimated? I remember during the 9/11 incident, "potential death toll was 50,000+", but then a year later it was 3000 or so, and then 2 years later it was about 2800. Just wondering, but regardless, and ultimately, they are human lives that should not be focused as mere statistics.

well, on 9/11 the original death toll estimates were really high because they were trying to guess how many people were likely to be in the towers at that time.
as for the tsunamis, they just keep counting bodies that wash up on shore or something... i don't think they're counting people who are missing
