Hey guys, i'm doing the full z-brake swap cause my friend is getting the parts pretty cheap for me. I just wanted to make sure i'm getting all the parts i need, since i havent done/seen a rear z upgrade done. he said he's getting calipers, spindles, hubs, and rear links. is there anything else i need? someone said something about axles, but i was under the impression i could use the stockers off my car. please, anyone thats done the swap, i could use your input. i already searched but couldnt find much info, so please let me know anything you can about the swap....pictures would be great. thanks guys

take it all
AND the drum brake lines (for ebrake)
dont need teh rear links, son
dont need t ochange spindles too but you can for weight but youll have to change the shock mounting
so take it all and throw away the rest

ebrake is cable
you will need the lines for the 240-300zx conersion, I got mine from projectsilvia.com
Also the rear upright (spindle) from 300zx is lighter but uses different way to mount the shock.
You can get away with using 300zx rear shocks if you do the swap. but its not needed if keeping the heavier 240sx upright.

You're doing all this to maintain the e-brake I imagine? I put Z32 brakes in the rear but tossed all the e-brake hardware...
Save yourself the hassle and just add an extra 1-2inches on the existing line and go from there. Here's info and pics on this very subject:

on s13 fits w/ no modificaiton minus a small bracket
s14 requires slight modification in extending the cable a few inches. kids stuff

You can get away with using 300zx rear shocks if you do the swap. but its not needed if keeping the heavier 240sx upright.
Not on an S14. You'd need a BNR33 rear shock for that, Z32 shock only works on S13.
Everything else is simple bolt on, you're worrying about nothing.

Lazy? You got me all me figured out :loco:
It wouldn't be for the ~30lbs of unsprung weight I shed on the back side
You simply didn't consider the implications on responsive suspension - careful w/ your lack of insight next time lol...

(not unsprung weight related)
yeah graet for that weight savings
nice leather interior
and dynamat you added
i too would have dropped the ebrake as well hahahaha
i can live w/ the extra weight with my stripped interior and 2 bucket seats
yeah full suspension replaced too..all aftermarket.
whoppiedeedoooooo
back to the unsprung weight:
and ebrakes dont weigh 30 pounds
the spindles are a good 8 pounds iirc
http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/january03/240sx/
so where did the other 14lbs go?
im assuming your referring the your wheels?
responsive, yeah 18s are great for that..
for caring so much about suspnsoin response, coilovers sways, subframe spacersand coilovers? what about your bushings? i thought you wer into respsonse? stock arms w/ stock bushings. nice
you talk of respsonsoe but it seems to be a fast daily driver/showish with some decent suspension and all the luxeries an s14 offers.
your car is VERY nice though, no doubt about that. not knocking the car ,seems very well setup for what you do.

Dousan, you figured me out - I live by what the S14 was designed for -> luxury sport! Trying hard to live up to being a Grand Touring stud :)

PS - Don't flame me too fast for not investing first on harcore suspension all-around. You must agree I have a well-balanced approach. I do admit the engine takes priority though hehe.
Now, back to docrice's situation people, is all that needed? If it's to simply save his e-brake, he knows otherwise now...
