my favorite quote

"The D1 cars are using rather large turbos (bigger than i would expect at least) so that they dont have to run such a high peak boost #. The trade off there is lag, this is where a small 50-75 shot would come in handy to help spool the turbo. And its probably a computer controled system that uses throtle position to progressively inject the nitrous so you dont get a big hit all at once. Then again the nitrous bottles may just be filled with compressed air and have a nozle tapped into the compressor side of the turbo aimed at the vains on the impeller wheel and thats what helps the turbo spool. "

I haven't read the driftmasterz thread yet, but I was talking with Tanner Foust (one of the american drifters at the D1 event this past weekend) and he told us about the Nitrous setup in his car, which apparently is old hat in the D1 world. Anyway, it's a full-throttle switch that sprays from 2000-4000 rpm to help the turbo spool. I'm not sure if it's sprayed into the fuel stream or aimed at the impeller though.. It makes sense though, if they use big turbos to make more power (and more tire smoke).

ah well, my 2 cents.
