went on 10 hr trip now i got problems

ok well i bought this 89 240sx bought 3 months ago and never had either of these probs. well i left yesterday and went on a trip to pa from nc. and i noticed when i stop now i get this bad belt squeel. when i shift ALOT OF SMOKE comes out the muffler. its not white and not dark black but greyish. i also have no lose in power, she still has the power shes had since i've had her so i hope someone can help out with my probs thanx alot

Has the timing belt ever been changed? Wait I wasn't thinking... it has timing chain....Meh.

HELP PLEASE. I CANT GET RID OF THIS HORRIBLE BELT SQUEEL. i tried to tighten the pulley and everything can someone help? also i dont have any smoke coming out muffler anymore just that night of the trip. i am soo lost i dunno what to do i got to return to nc day after xmas and i am not sure if she will make it. can someone please help.

yup... replace your belts and that should fix your squeaky sound....as far as the smoke...do you have a catylitic converter??

i dont not have a cat. well i do its the stock one but gutted completely, there is nuthing inside WHY DO U ASK?

tighten the belts more!!!! aha... at least that's what i did on a 300zx

just replace the belts....its cheap they prolly got wet or something with oil

belt squeal could also be from some kind of liquid on the belts too guys... i.e. coolant (which is common), oil...you get the picture

more than likely your car is smoking a little cuz the lack of the cat...but i wouldn't really worry about it all that much unless you have emissions where your from
