Hey, receintly I had my ABS light go off and I was told by several sites, as well as a few friends, that all i had to do was drive over 19mph for like a minute or more and then go to the trunk and look at the LED on the ABS brain and it would flash the code to me. Yea well there is most definately NOT an LED on this thing. Ive taken it off, taken it apart, everything. there is not one. Maybe the information i recieved was for S13's or something. I really dont know. But if anyone could shed any light at all on this situation, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

-Keith

P.S. My brakes need bleeding and have a good bit of mush in the pedal, could this be a cause of the light? Ive never heard of a car that threw a code due to air in the lines, but I guess its possible.

yea, ive gotten the pages from it that pertain to the abs, but it also says to check the LED on the backside of the abs unit....and honestly, its complete flat metal. no led. so i took it apart......no LED on the circuit board eithor.

fwiw, the abs light just came on out of the blue one day and only goes on each time, only after i begin to roll forward. leaving me to believe that its a wheel sensor. but im not replacing them all. i'd like to know which one.

bump b/c my abs is really starting to annoy me. btw its a right hand drive car if that matters. its an actual 1997 silvia, so it doesnt have the regular usdm brakes on it...... :-/ kind of an interesting situation i have on my hands. haha. tomorrow im going to try doing the regular ecu diagnostic to see if that will get the abs light to tell me the code.

btw, bleeding the brakes didnt help the abs situation. nor did it get rid of the mush in the pedal. hah.

that sucks. my FSM pretty much lists the procedure u described... drive it 15mph for a minute, turn it off, look for the LED on the back of the ABS unit.

the other option is to plug in nissan consult... i wonder if any code reader could do it. have you tried your local auto store? around here autozone reads codes for free.

yea, if it comes down to it, i'll go to them. but i'd rather not take my car to them, only to say that can't do it b/c of the RHD jdm blah blah blah then them try to tell me its a different ecu or something. oh well, i'll go tomorrow and see what they say. presuming my ecu method today doesnt work.

kinda bringing this back from the dead here, but i took my ecu out over xmas......there was no screw/knob on it to turn in order to set it to diagnostic mode....maybe the notchtop ecu is different or something. if anyone sees this and has any ideas as to how to read my abs code, i'd be greatly appreciative. thanks guys.

!!!??? there should me 2 led light in red and green, then a knob that u need a flathead screwdriver to turn it, on the S13 AND s14 eCU. ARE U SURE ??? did u took it out and disconect the ecu to look or just removed the kick panal?? cos u can't see it that way.. C

i took it out, unplugged it, everything. which btw, for my car, the ecu is on the left hand side (the passenger side). only screw i saw on the whole thing was the one that holds the plug/s into the front of it. nothing else on the entire thing.
