Yea so i just put in a new motor for next season, It appeared in good condition. I took it to the dyno. And on stock boost running a little rich, the shit blew up.
It put down some impressive numbers though, for stock boost.
Stock sr20det. z32 maf, injectors, s15 turbo.
228.3 hp
219.2 t
That is while running hella rich.
We then did another run, without any changes, and the shit threw a rod.
Isnt that an awsome story.

Post back why when you find out, that is just a little odd since you were so rich...unless rich enough to wash too much oil out (I doubt that).
good luck

Well it threw a rod. So richness wasnt the issue. The motor was just beat up in japan.

Ahh I was under the assumption it was a cherry engine.

Just playin man, well now looks like you're going to have even more SR20 parts lying around......how many miles did you have on your current ACT clutch? hahahahah.....better swap em sucka!

if you guy don't know by now, you'll soon figure out oil is much more important to a SR than any other Nissan motor. It's a like a little bitch that whines and spins a rod bearing if your oil is just a tad contaminated or a tad low.

Luke, sorry to hear it man. Looks like you're gonna be really familiar with the inside of sr's tho.
On a side note, I'll give you a call over the holidays, I'm hopping on the plane in a couple hours, so I'll be home for christmas.

See, its time to go KA-T, baby! For the price of yet ANOTHER sr20, you could be rocking a lightly built KA-T, and enough domestic support to purchase parts if something should break.
So.... another $4,000 for a stock SR? Or for a beefed-up KA-T?
Just planting the seed, my friend. Gotta spread the KA-T love. :coold:

The afr ratio was even across the board just a little rich.
alkemyst: it was cherry as far as i could tell. I never pulled the upper oil pan though when installing it.
RSP13-Sideways: Clutch has 30 miles on it. poo head.
nightwalker: this had nothing to do with an oiling problem.
RBS14: gimme a call scotty. Come check out my pile of blown sr motors. lol
mellojoe: tempting.

Ahh.. the life of an SR motor.
Sucks.. build the next one.. or at least tear it down and inspect. I've seen a sr motor with rusty cams.. which made rusty valves, piston, and cylinder. Had it not been torn down.. it'd be blown on the side of the road.

This is true. We did pull it down on the top end. Everything looked cherry. We also pulled the lower oil pan, and there were no shavings. The only thing i was sceptical about was that the stock t25 had ran dry, and was seized. Its ok thoughi have 3 other sr motors that i am building for the upcoming seasons. I have been in contact with the supplier of the motor throughout the process and he told me he would stand behind his products. It just really sucks because i have the track day on jan 15th and all my sponsors were going to fly out to see me drive. Whatever...
fyi. The motor ate my new s15 turbo.
what you mean it ate your turbo? is it fuxored? why?
