alright, i have been a member of paypal for almost three years now, I have a business account with them, and I have never seen or heard of a 3% or 4% charge on transactions, nor have I ever been charged a fee for sending / recieveing money...now I'm not saying it doesn't exist but what is the deal with the charge? I recently ordered the Nismo GT LSD from the group buy and the seller said to add additional 23$ paypal charge and i did this but I have also bought an exhaust via paypal and a few other items in the past few days, none of them have any fee or % surcharge on them...so can anyone explain this to me?

Paypal does charge transaction fees to the seller, i'm not too sure of the details. But, i THINK if the money is paid by a checking acount, then it's just tranfered; but if money is paid by a credit card, then there is what i believe is a 3% transaction fee. The reason for this is b/c credit card companies charge their vendors for each transaction, in this case it woud be paypal, so they are charging the seller the fees.
Hope this helps

ihmeg, you just sent me money for the exhaust an it took off like 10 bucks...damn greedy paypal b
They have always charged sellers for charge card transactions. It seems mlike the seller was being a cheap ass and decided to pass the surcharges onto you. Lots of computer companies do that as well.

if you have a business account then you get charged $0.30 plus 2.9% unless you have a heavy transaction account then you get charged $0.30 plus 2.7%
if you don't want to have the seller past the surcharge to you then simply pay with a check/money order
but its easier to get ripped off using those methods.

The heavier fees started when E-bay bought PayPal.
