View Full Version : GT wing for my car?

Still deciding on what to do with the rear end of my car. Originally i was going to make an extended length fiberglass lip spoiler like the gp sports one or the origin, or without the chuncky overhang.

I think a GT wing would look okay on my car, but not my style. Then I saw this blue CF GT wing from DDrug
http://www.d-drug.com/images/gt-blue.jpg

Still not sure what to do

They also have some sick CF hoods that i wish I knew about.

in my opinion, a fiberglass wing would look better on your car then a gt wing! something like a kouki wing or an r32 wing would look awesome!

Ian
12-13-2004, 04:19 PM
i personally think that the blue CF could look good, i donno how it'll contrast with your car though

mr_240sx
12-13-2004, 04:23 PM
thats very true about the contrasting thing. who knows, the blue might be a different tone which might look funny! or it also might look really good, its a gamble i guess!

i dont like gt ::coughcoughriceboycoughcough:: wings, but thats my opinion... if you like it go for it, but im almost willing to bet that you will grow out of it and regret putting it on later....

::edit: on second though, if you like it, still dont go for it. you will thank me later.

thats one ugly rice wing! :aw: :ghey: Only put if you race on the track A LOT!

Ian
12-13-2004, 09:09 PM
to be honest, i think the car is good the way it is..i mean, if it already looks awesome...why spend more money on something you're debating?

w/ these parts? your car looks a little more raced/riced out, depending on the way you look at it

w/o these parts? your car looks good (already established) and you saved like 2 grand

Just a question, how would the wing REALLY help whether he is on the track or not?

Drag...maybe. But anyother type of event...????

Again, just a question...

No GT wing it is, I was trying to guage interest in it, and the money saved is better spent on motorwork.

I think I am going to develop a lip spoiler similar to the GP sports lip spoiler but a little longer, or maybe one like the sealzone/onleine 180sx.

Plus becasue of my relationship with andysautosport I could have them replicated and available to the rest of the forum members instead of a one off for my car.

So the new question now is what kind of lip spoiler are you guys interested in? I am not sure of the price, which will probably be determined in production numbers.

i thought about a molded lip spoiler as well, where the trunk extenstion hangs over the tail lights, kinda like the rsx (wingless) or late 80's amg. of course, i don't have the means to do such a thing nor is it a high priority mod, so i say go for that and see how it turns out. it's gonna be unique... on s13's...

Ian
12-13-2004, 10:01 PM
i think it looks absolutely fine w/o a wing at all

mr_240sx
12-14-2004, 05:46 AM
and it will also look riced out, right now his car looks very clean and he should keep it that way.

DDrug stuff is freakin' HOT. Colored CF = awesome. Maybe even RAD!

Personally, though, I think you should rock that limited edition DDrug hood with the painting of the waves on it!

GT wings are the hotness if you have the balls to build the car to make it look right.

case in point....

I vote for wing and atlantic blue hood. Your car has a wide stance, and the wing would work, but seems you already decided.

Wow, what kit is on the rest of that red car? That's exactly how I want mine to look, except white.

Brian

BN sports of course.

in other news, the red car has 215/40 on a 10 inch. haha yeah!

so incredibly hot. I also love how there are no holes for winkers in the front bumper. Real men have their turn signals in their corner markers. Right BH? haha

Brian

damn right!
weight savings + cool factor = total win situation.

i know you already sort of decided, but i would go wingless. it looks better and is clean and suits most silvias/180SX's/240SX's/etc.

but yes, do what you like, and what suits you.

mr_240sx
12-15-2004, 09:24 AM
you know what! you build a car for yourself! for what you like! you shouldnt care what people think and dont let them make the decisions for you because if people start making decisions for you then whos building the car? i think its alright to ask opinions just like you did but because somebody says go wingless doesnt mean that thats what you need to do! comprendais?

BobbyBoy
12-15-2004, 04:19 PM
Well the easy decision is to go wingless, it is the least amount of work, and money and it looks good. However I am trying to retire the car from street usage as I keep getting pulled over, and am debating weather or not to add a wing since everyone keeps saying that its not complete without it. Also the benefits from a wing when I track the car.

I think itll look decent with or without a wing or lip spoiler, so just getting more opinions.

Ian
12-15-2004, 04:33 PM
well a lip spoiler will do you absolutely no good on a track car so nix that idea
