That's right, I just picked up a 91 Sentra SER for the princely sum of $100 + $30 for the tow. The passenger side frame rail has a small kink in it, I'm going to try a ghetto fix on that. Since it's a Sentra, I can get all the body parts for $125 from a local junkyard!

I'm *very* excited to beat the shit out of this car in the snow: FWD + LSD + Snow = Yummy!

Here's some pics of the beast:

sorry to go semi-off topic, and sound like a huuuuge n00b, but do sentra's have SR20's in em? if so, are they turbo charged?

Only the SE-R models (1991 - 1993 for Sentra and 1994 - 1998 for 200sx) have the SR20DE. It's not turbocharged and it's transversely-mounted. In Japan, the SR20DET (the turbocharged version) appeared on a couple of FWD cars (Primera, Pulsar, Bluebird, etc); DET is a fairly straightforward swap if you have the SR20DE transmission...

I remember back in '91, the automotive press collectively jizzed for this car. It was always a mystery to me why only the autoX guys picked up on it... while the rest of the FWD world went crazy for JDM Hondas.

This car is sort of clean:
-- It has yucky tint on it.
-- Scratches down the driver's side (they'll actually buff out)
-- Interior is complete but needs work
-- 123K miles!
-- Runs a little 'put-put' at idle
-- #1 cylinder is running lean
-- Blown struts
-- Trunk won't open
-- Wasn't running when I bought it (seems a bit neglected too)
-- Fairly rust-free (these cars are worse rust whores than S13!)

As far as deals go, most people don't have a clue what an SE-R is (this one was missing the badge too). And if you go to look at one, don't let on that it's 'special' -- "Ah, another POS Sentra... I'll give you $200!"

If it survives the winter, maybe I'll hook it up. Think SR20VE + suspension.

i love those little cars. If i cuold own a FWD n/a car, that would be it. And how are those even comparable to civics? Perhaps the older EG SI's, or maybe a new EK SI. Decent power, excellent suspension, healthy engine that loves to rev. And besides, we got the LSD, the EG didnt. Also, fairly light weight.

I hate those cars! yuck ... 240sx = The Nissan Probe :)

I used to have a 91 Civic Si w/ B16A (EF). I'll do a write-up on the SE-R vs SiR when I get it running.

I got the car back together:

The running-on-3-cylinders thing was a bad injector wire/output. I finally took it out for a test-drive today, unfortunately it snowed around 3" in 15 minutes :) I was doing LONG snowy burnouts at 30-50 mph on the backroads. Don't try this in your 240sx, kids!

Next week, I'm putting a set of AGXs on it and registering it. The S13 can go live in the garage for the rest of the winter :jerkit:

As a side note, the 240 is running like a raped ape in the sub-zero temps plaguing the Northeast. Turbo + cold air = good stuff!
