It's pretty sad when installing a SHIFT KNOB gives you a hard time. i threw my instructions away, since most of it was in italian...can someone explain what these rubber things are for? (thread adapters i think) i put in the one that seemed to fit, but i couldnt get the bastard all the way into the knob, so i couldnt use the little screws to secure it (the rubber was in the way) :\

are you sure you didn't stuff a few of those rubber adapters in??? they should go in, and deeply, easily.

I put in the one that seemed to fit on the thread the snuggest (not really even tight)...but once the adapter and "stick" were both in the knob at the same time, it didnt want to move...im going to go mess with it some more
took me 10 minutes just to get the damn rubber thing back out.. :\

nm, just got the son of a bastard on, just used the next size up rubber thing.
The first time i put it in i didnt even USE one...that didn't go over well, plus i used the big screws instead of the little ones, so the little chrome cover thing wouldnt go on...almost stripped it trying to get it back off.

Ya, I had the same issue when I bought one those crappy <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> shifter that use the 3 little screws. It keep getting lose and drove me nutz so I bought a Greddy shifter that screws right on the the shifter and boy is it cooooo.

Oh, God.
You're supposed to use the little rubber caps on the tip of your shifter (when its bare) so that the rubber absorbs some of the vibrations (metal to metal) that would cause the screws to come undone. The rubber cap fits snugly into the top center of the hole in the shiftknob and then onto the top center of the bare shifter.
