I was going to the bank last monday to deposit my check. I parked in the handicap spot because there wasn't any parking. So as soon as I get out of my car I seen a 1989 S13 all black, and it looked fixed up. I waited until he got out of his car to give him my opinion on his car. I told him "nice car, what do you have under your hood?" He told me he had a SR20. I was amazed because im riding all stock, but I only got rims and my car is low. I pointed to my car which he liked as well. I also told him I had nothing under my hood. He then asked me if I wanted to join his crew, but I forgot the name of his crew. He told me there is a couple of his friend's that also drives hatches, and wanted me to join. I'm not a racer nor am I into racing, I just fixed my car up to make it look better. Should I join this crew or not? Give me an opinion. Thanks. :!:

If they seem like knowledgable folks, then sure, why not? Maybe you can get some 411 out of them, some new deeper insight on 240sx ownership, perhaps even a parts/labor hookup or two.

I would probably talk to him. Ask him what his club is into and there goals as a group(racing/show or just hanging out). If you like their goals and seem to get a long then it would be probably a good idea. Remember most clubs set goals as in stuff to modify. Most of them put their cars before there girlfriends/night on the town and crap like that.

Yeah he popped his hood for me.  I was jealous that he had a SR20, plus he had and intake and I think some ignition wires.  But Im still curious, because I don't want to join a crew and just fix cars all day.  I'm wondering if these people would have any cute ladies around.. I'll find out and let you know.

It never hurts to know other 240 owners in your area. Like others said maybe it will get you the hook up on parts labor or other stuff. Assuming you're not handicap, why would you park in the handicap spot? Are you that selfish that your desire to avoid a 100ft walk is more important than a disabled person being forced to do that same 100ft walk.

I guess my thing is that there isn't an excuse for parking in the handicap spot.  The handicap spot was installed for a reason: to allow handicap people closer access when they're injured.  I guess since my grandma has to park in a handicap spot, and I have a friend who does too, maybe I'm more sensitive.

Regardless of my feelings, it's selfish and against the law.  It's not about being impatient, it's about doing what's right.  If he's not handicap, he shouldn't park in the handicap spot.

An interesting example might be for someone in a wheel chair with a van that opened and let them out.  Handicap spots have van access for a reason.  If he's blocking that, the person can't get out of their car.  They shouldn't have to wait because HE was impatient.  It's their right, not his.

Actually, speeding and racing would be reckless.  Parking in a disabled spot is just selfish.  Both are crimes, but they involve different mental states.  One is disregard for everyone's well being and the other is placing your wellbeing ahead of those less able.  Not just being stupid, but cutting against a particluar sub-group of society.

Like I said if there a hardcore club that's really into their track/show activities don't bother. If there a bunch of guys that just hang out them join. Some how I don't think "hardcore" racer crews (if there is such a thing) scope out new members in convenience store parking lots. I only wish I had some more folks around here that drive 240s...the few that did live here moved away:(

I can only hope the girlfrined decides to go toUF so I can hang with all the 240 guys up there...greatest group of guys I've ever met(no gay references please..haha)....crossing my fingers.

I'd say go for it if the guy seemed like he was knowledgeable about his car. Check out the rest of his crew too...nevee knowhat kinda folks they are either.

I only wish I had some more folks around here that drive 240s...the few that did live here moved away:(

I can only hope the girlfriend decides to go toUF so I can hang with all the 240 guys up there...greatest group of guys I've ever met(no gay references please..haha)....crossing my fingers.

i'd show interest and hook up a few times... even if they arent what  you are into it's always good to know more people especially if they know what they're doing...

friends or not i know damn near everyone in my city, it's good contacts and if you are down with them thats justa  few more people who wont steal your shit and might know who did it if it were stolen...

there is no real reason not to atleast find out a little more about them...

oh, and i parked across 2 parking spaces tuesday night, but it's quite alright if that angers you twoforty, we can still be friends because we both love 240's and thats wha is important...

You know whats funny?  Keying the cars of people that like to park across two spots.  If you are so worried about door dings, park at the end.  If you just like your car to stand out and say "Here I am", nothing says it like a nice line of bare sheetmetal running down the side of it.

See, bing, I don't understand your comment.  I never said anything to you or referenced you in any way shape or form.  I commented on him being selfish because he parked in a handicap spot.  I was thinking from the reference of those that would be impacted by his selfishness.  If you park across two spots (as long as it's not two handicap spots), I couldn't give two shits or a fuck.

If you fuckers can't understand why that would anger someone and make an intelligent comment about it, then fuck off.  I'll stop posting about it now, as obviously the only thing you guys can come up with is "You're lame" and other assorted comments that stray from the topic.

yes they were 2 handi capped spaces but it was at like 10:30 at night in a plaza parking lot with about 13 of us and our cars...

The most important thing is to find out what kind of people they are.  Then find out the goals that their group has.  I actually plan on starting a small car club (between friends at first), and hopefully we can egg each other on to keep on modding and modding in order to keep up with one another.

back home all my closer friends are soooooooooooo gay, none have ever in there entire lives accumulated enough $$$ to even buy a POS car... and they make fun of me for liking mine so much, they say i'm trying to be cool...

fuck i already am cool as hell, if anything having a relatively average car makes me less cool...

THEN i come out here and now there are a few guys on campus with an interest in the 240sx...

yeah, it's cool having some other guys with a love for the same car, it is really benificial in alot of ways

Our "crew" sticker says F**K Hondas on it and it draws alot of attention. Not like the Hondas down here can ever come close to even attempting to burn any one of the members cars. Well unless they have more stickers. I've seen a kid in a 94 VTEC Prelude race a friend of mine's 9.81 sec Supra. We also have a Supra for every occassion ranging from two 9 sec Supras, T72 powered and Dual 2835 powered + NOS for both, two 10 sec T88 powered Supras, well one is a SC300 with a different sized hairdryer but it runs 10s!, and the "slow" T60 powered Poopra that runs a low 11. Then we have a fine assortment of VR4s and other DSMs that all run better than 13s. Followed by many lovely 13 sec and faster 3rd gen RX7s. And taking up the slowest car in the pack spot is me... and my 240sx baby! Its the only N/A car we got and damnit it has 220(generous est from Dyno) Honda Spanking HP! But we are all a bunch of guys that have nothing better to do but sit around and waste time watching TV, working on cars, and playing Gran Turismo 3 all day. Kinda funny ... we met at River City Raceway ... and its not exactly a "team" hence the "crew" part. No one is gay enough to join one but we all like to get together every once in a while. I met them here and there. I hang out at the local shops alot so we shoot the s**t alot. Darren has the other 9 sec supra although he hasnt ran a 9 but his poopra puts down more ponies than SWs which ran the 9.81. Keen has a T88 powered white poopra with a TRD hood. Salah has a few RX7s and assorted other cars. A few of the guys are out of Houston so I dont know them all that well. The "slow" supra is owned by a guy named Daniel who is out of Houston. Keen also owns a "stocker" red Supra along with his white one but its not all too fast. Salah has a SR20DET powered rocket but I have yet to see it. Clint and Darren work up at Turboimports and Salah works up at MZM. There is a guy named Alex that drives an awesome black RX7 but I dont know him too well but he heads up Pro-Tech.

If its the same pro-tech that I know watch out cuz the pro-tech I know where a bunch of ripoffs selling stolen parts!!! Thay closed the one in El Paso TX down cuz local police found out about the stolen parts. They stole cars and crossed them over to Mexico (juarez mexico  and el paso tx are like one giant city) anyway they would strip the cars and come back with all the good stuff!! SUCKS HUH!!

Perhaps... yeah ... no one really deals with them down here though. We have reliable shops that were here before so why change. I have heard of a bunch of nice Hondas getting jacked along with a SR20 powered 240 and someone tried to get a friend of mines 300Z but he chased them off with a shotgun at 3 in the morning. Obvious they werent after audio equipment cause he doesnt have any. And plus they popped the hood and broke the latch which set off his loud ass alarm that woke me and about 4 other angry people up that lived in the neighborhood. If we would have caugt the thief he/she wouldnt have made it out alive.
